good question
Hey yall, I have a 1994 ford ranger, so I was out mowing lastnight and I got done with a yard and I started my truck turned the ac on and also plugged my phone into the radio and checked my yards on my list and I smelled this terrible like smoke smell and I looked around and didn’t see anybody burning anything shrugged it off and then 30 seconds later SMOKE IS POURING out of my vents, and now every time I turn on the damn blower motor it just smells like a wet campfire smolder in there it’s freaking terrible.

Pull the heater blower resistor... chances are there is leaves or other junk in there burning in the blower box.

That’s what i assumed but how do i find this box

Under the hood...

Passenger side... on the firewall.

Engine compartment, passenger side on the firewall. Big black plastic ductwork. You'll see the blower motoer sticking out and just below that and a little closer toward the engine, will be a small retangular cover with wires plugged into it. The resistor bank is inside that cover.

Looks similar to this. The big round hole is where the blower lives. Just below is the hole for the resistors.
