What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Spent some time messing with my a/c system. This last weekend I replaced everything but the evap core. After charging, I found out there's a leak in the system somewhere. Today I injected some UV dye and some freon to get the compressor to cycle and build pressure so maybe after dark I can hunt with my UV light and possibly pinpoint the leak. I also noticed that even after the key is off and the controls are switched off, the clutch is staying energized. I have it unplugged for now so I don't accidentally forget and discharge the battery. I'll have more time tomorrow to look into that issue. This a/c needs to work before the 3rd. Take it NGL my kids all the way to Houston to tour NASA and it's about a 2 and half hour drive. Need to be able to keep them cool lol

I’ve got six vehicles, and it’s only me, and the ‘97 Road Ranger with 320,000 miles plus or minus is my “new” car. Having said that, do you still want me to send you the to do list, all the pages of the Excel spreadsheets?

EDIT: i’ve got a bunch of brand new stereo stuff in the shed of miracles. 20 or 30 years ago, Walmart was changing their display and had the leftovers sitting on a table with big discounts. I got the manager and said how much do you want for the whole table and I’ll take it away right now. $150 and 30 years later, I’ve only used like a third of it.

I’ve got a 100 amp (a real hundred amps per channel) Sony explode amplifier, and a pile of speakers, etc. I’m thinking of putting that into one of the vehicles, but again, I just haven’t gotten that far yet.

Getting the AC reliable on the 88 town car is one of the current priorities before it gets too hot here in hot Atlanta

Is it a manual? Can you pop start?

Yeah, manual. 4.0L V6 OHV. Made a half-hearted attempt at a push start. Battery at 12.6 V. Starter gives a single solid click. I'll pick up a replacement tomorrow. Haven't installed one before. Will be good experience. Weird that it just stopped working entirely. Nothing to suggest it was failing in the days leading up.
