What did YOU do today?

Cleaned out the chicken house, moving the new birds over there tonight. Filled 11 5 gallon buckets for possible sale later, I can get free empty buckets at work and last spring a egg customer requested a couple of buckets of the “other” chicken product so I figured why not try & market that? Im calling it fair in a bucket fir, cause thats what it will remind you of when the lid is popped off. Selling for $5/bucket. we will see if that works out. Gator did pretty good i. the yard now that we are down to just a couple inches of snow.

I've had a cold all week annoyingly but I'm almost clear now... it's put a damper on my enthusiasm...

Tonight so far I've torn into the camper jack that was lazy and cranky, turns out the top plate was warped and the motor was in a bind the whole time and got mad sometimes, all the gears are in good shape and straightened things out so hopefully it will be less cranky, there's a clutch on one of the last stages so that's why it did some of the things it did... I'm less afraid of it now at least.

Next step is to put on the other two trim pieces then seal around everything then put the jack back on, then the camper can get out of the shop... once my brother brings the F350 back at least...

Sold the 97 wrangler. Amd am anxiously awaiting the harness adapter from f150leds to hook up the grill lights on the 24 ranger.

I am also supposed to do the swap on my FIL 25 ranger, if his letters get here today

Went & looked at a ranger. White ‘99 supercab 4x4, 3.0/auto. 4.10’s front hubs have been upgraded to manual. not too rusty, Id be more worried about the transmission than anything with 190K on it. $1600. drivers door has been changed, has a ‘97 sticker on it but correct tag for truck is on the doorjamb. Might drive it, not crazy about white but thats easy enough to change.

Dad has something like 230k on his 99 automatic. It could benefit from a shift kit and band adjustment but otherwise it seems pretty solid. Of course, my green 00 puked the trans at like 165k. I did a shift kit and valve body work to my 92 with 176k and that thing became an animal up until someone decided I was having too much fun and smashed into it. So there’s some hit and miss to the autos.

Sometimes I’m anal enough that I even amaze myself, and I know how amazing I can be.

I have an upstairs HVAC system and a downstairs HVAC system. Both start with a little blower purging the gas chamber, so fugitive gas won’t blow up, and when it’s clear, it shoots the main gas into the thing.

Well, a few days ago, when it was like 14° down here at night, that little starter blower had a little roar to it that you could probably hear out on the street through the vents. I just let it ride since it was still heating the house.

Got up yesterday morning, walked out to the upstairs balcony, and it was 55° in the main part of the house. I guess the little guy gave up. Fortunately, the deep freeze was over. I suited up in the nastiest clothing I have because you have to crawl over the dirt in the crawlspace on your belly to get to it, and I pulled that starter blower.

One of the fins in the 5-6” squirrel cage wheel broke off from old age, that created the imbalance, and then it broke the little pot metal housing that held the motor and blower wheel in place.

Here’s the amazing part. I had to really strain my brain and go into the back left corner of the shed of miracles (that’s the really dark deep hole mostly inhabited by fugitive yard creatures and big Georgia bugs) because I vaguely remembered I had a box with furnace parts.

It looked a little different, but it bolted right up, and the heat is back!

And yes, I’m going to save the broken one…

BTW, that box was right next to the box marked “Roman aqueduct parts.”

Green 00 puked the trans? or did little @lil_Blue_Ford ‘s foot puke the trans?
Ehh, maybe both? I was pulling the little trailer 6.5’x11’ with my GT garden tractor on it when it started slipping bad. Was a little low on fluid and when I tried to top it off, it literally puked fluid out the overflow. I limped it home and promptly tore it apart to do a 5.0 swap. I had an excuse, it looked like the rear main was leaking and the transmission was done.

Why do I suspect that this is a real thing and not just you blowing hot air…
