It is a solution, but I would argue that for the skills and effort it takes to get LTSC set up, you're still better off giving Linux a try. If you absolutely need Windows compatibility for some specific piece of software you use, I get it - it is possible to make lots of windows software run under Linux with Wine, but that's a bridge too far for a lot of casual users. If you just surf the net, watch videos, use email and write documents etc, there's like zero learning curve switching to Linux. Just pick a popular distribution like Ubuntu or Mint, download that and Rufus (assuming you're using Windows) and make a bootable USB key with Linux on it. Your can just try it out, no commitments, no changes to your windows until you decide you want to. There's a Linux thread elsewhere on here if anyone has questions about how to proceed - I know there are several of us already using it and able to answer all you questions.
I know I'm always banging this drum.
