Anyone Upgraded to LED Headlights for the First Gens?

I'm going to have to do something about my stock headlight bulbs on my BII.

I see there are a lot of options out there these days for glass housing LED replacements for the H6054.

Has anyone upgraded to them?

All I know is PetroleumJunkie tried the ones that have the LEDs built into the replacement housing and he hated them. He said they were worse than the OEM ones.

Is what's common here. No experience from behind the wheel but they always blind oncoming traffic. (Me)

They mimic newer designs. IF they are truly engineered as claimed they should be awesome indeed. I know the round versions are popular with local bikers.

He up and left. Part of it was work. Part of it was family issues of various types. We stayed in contact for a while but even that dried up.

FWIW, I've been reading a lot into the issue with LED headlamps especially in older vehicles. For one, you really ought to put in a new assembly appropriate for the LED lights because it'll scatter the beam differently, and second, even some of the most costly brands can fail prematurely. I know it wasn't what you're hoping to hear, but in all my older vehicles, I run premium halogen or xenon bulbs with good glass assemblies. I've never had a failure, and I've never looked back. If you're interested to know more, I'll be glad to tell you about my setups.

I like the fact they are glass assemblies with replaceable bulbs. I know a lot convert to round lights, but I like the rectangular look of the 80's.

I like the fact they are glass assemblies with replaceable bulbs. I know a lot convert to round lights, but I like the rectangular look of the 80's.

I had those exact assemblies on a other truck once before. They are perfectly fine.

I see there is a kit for ECE lights vs the DOT, I assume DOT would be the better choice?

I believe the main difference between ECE and DOT is how the light is scattered, something to do with the cutoff. I ran into hat with my ZJ.
