Overhead Light Switch Not Working

Well that was fast, it stopped working again and I literally didn’t do anything. I went to the store, on my drive over it was working, then on the way home it wasn’t working. It’s gotta be something with the wiring I would imagine right? Or maybe some kinda relay fault? I’m just at a loss.

The best issues are intermittent...

Maybe something only works when cold?

Intermittent issues are a nightmare. It could be wiring, or it could be cracked solder or contact somewhere that only makes contact in certain temperature conditions (I had a clock that was like that).

Well shoot, I have no idea how to decipher this wiring diagram in my Haynes manual. I guess it could be a temperature thing. Where should I start now😂😭 I could pull off the SJB and take a look at it but I have no clue, I think the dimmer switch goes right to the SJB I think, maybe someone can confirm that for me

I see a dimmer switch here but have no idea how to read this mess, could someone decipher this for me and maybe point me where to look? This is from Haynes by the way. Thanks!

Sorry, man; wrong diagram. That "dimmer switch" is for the head lights.

How is there a dimmer switch for the headlights?

Reading the diagram, the dimmer switch on that page powers two headlight filaments and powers the fog light relay coil when it's in the "low" position.

Confusing terminology- it "dim"s the fog lights when the head lights are on high beams, even though it's also powering the head light low beams. So it's more like "low beam head light AND fog light switch power".

It takes some practice, but reading a wiring schematic is a lot like reading a map.

I agree, that is the wrong schematic. Look at all the lights in the diagram and the multifunction switch. The dome light is no where in there.

I have some free time today, let me see if I can find the right page for you. I think you may have the same Haynes manual I do.

Ok, that was about useless for what you need. None of the diagrams in the Haynes has the dome light circuit.

So, here are the diagrams for the 2011, hopefully they will help.

Smart Junction Box and what fuse does what. It looks like fuse F13 is the one we are interested in. Confirm with the listing and diagram in your Owner's Manual.

Here is the power distibution diagram. Look for illumination dimmer.

The wire colors may be wrong for your year, so keep that in mind. The circuit layout should be the same or atleast close enough to troubleshoot.

Here is the pin layouts for the connectors in question.

I hope this helps. The first page on the diagrams in your Haynes manual should help you to decipher what the symbols mean.
