To add to the fun, the steering in the 2019 locked/froze up. I'm exploring options, Ranger 5G says it sometimes happens when the app is used to remote start (it was) qnd the is to move back and forth a few times braking real hard. I have a parade I'm obligated to be in and it's a national holiday. I have the 2011, so the last part is fine. But now I have two (2) F$^(@ng vehicles dead in the water. Happy F₩€£ng Veterans Day!

Man, seems like everyone is having major vehicle problems. I’ve been struggling to keep the Choptop on the road. Paul had the motor go in his van, we still don’t have the motor in his Ranger, and both his Subaru and Jimmy have brake problems (master/booster related)

Well, the 2014 is fixed and the back and forth thing while braking hard unF&@*ed the steering in the 2019. The voltmeter in the power port of the 2019 is showing 12.1 after it's been sitting a while. So, right on cue, the Ford AGM battery is failing. It lasted almost 3 years, just like the original one did. So, once the House passes the funding bill the Senate approved, and the President signs it, I guess I'll be replacing that one as well. Autozone has the best warranty (5 years) and the pricing is better, so I guess I'll be getting a battery from them. Everyone else is selling a battery with a 4 year or 3 year warranty and the price difference isn't that big. Odyssey batteries are only 3 year and are much more expensive. Optima, while available, is more expensive as well, with only a 3 year warranty, and their reputation isn't what it used to be.

Went to my brothers, didn't do much but we did test out the little Yeswelder stick welder he got a while ago finally. It's a tiny little thing but welds very respectably... being inverter it's DC only which is good on a stick welder anyway... burned through a stick of 1/8" 6011 and it was pretty nice, even had a cap of slag on the top which you definitely don't get with AC! Tried some 3/32" 7018 and it was butter smooth, it has a hot start feature that makes 7018 a bit hard to re strike, didn't get as far as trying to turn that down... I think it will up my brothers confidence level in welding, should take much less patience...

I drove a somewhat disabled card playing lady (needs a walker) from the local senior center in the Ranger to see her old friend in the next town. The friend, now 69, has stage 3 Parkinson's. Clearly I have never had it so good!

Things are pretty much back to normal. Since the carport setup is sort of on hold until I can get the freezer. The trailer and 2019 are kind of in "Red One" alert status. The coupler is positioned over the hitch, ready to be lowered and latched in as soon as I get the call. Since the Escape isn't considered trustworthy just yet, the truck and trailer can't sit ready to go in case my girlfriend needs to take the truck on short notice. And the freezer will need to go into the house through the kitchen door. Backing the trailer through the carport is possible, but a fiddly pain in the back side. So, it's better to wait until the freezer thing is done.

In the mean time, I started surface prep on the trailer suspension upgrade. The bearing races have been knocked out of the idler hubs. One suspension arm, spindle, and hub has been lightly sanded, cleaned, and masked off for painting. I'll get the other side done tonight. Then I can move on to the trailer rims. That way, the paint can cure for as long as possible before installation.

Careful with that, it may not really be fixed.

It might not hurt to pick up a junker/jalopy so you have something reliable until you are sure you got your steering sorted, it would be a bummer to have the steering lock up again at speed...

Finished my +45. Teachers get raises for taking online "graduate" classes. It's a for-profit industry, so I use the term grad classes extremely loosely. It's like filling up your car with gas and calling yourself a mechanic. That being said, most districts cap you at Masters +45. So you get a masters (I got a "real" one in history) and then you take these online classes. Classes like "how to use Google in the classroom" and "how to connect with kids". Jokes. No books, just barf about 1500 words. You pay, you "A".

But I'm done. No mas. For funsies my last three classes (9 hours) I picked some history classes. So I got to "learn" about CRT (critical race theory), Exploring the Civil War Through People, Photography, and Present Day Perspectives, and Exploring the Multidimensional Complexities of War. /sarcasm

Good news. I get a nice, healthy raise for basically doing f*** all. Welcome to public education!

Last night I covered the tractor that's adding water to the oil pan since it's raining. I also fixed the air compressor, turns out the motor had just vibrated a bit loose over the last 3 years and the belt just needed tightening since it fell off... whatever, spare belts aren't bad. I do need to take some soapy water and find the leak though...

Taking a robot electrical training course at work this week. It’s all review and not even the exact model of robot I work on in the plant. Tuesday, I disassembled the controller and put it all back together. Now, as we learn more details, the instructor “installs faults” in the controller and we troubleshoot and repair them.

Full controller “sorry. Pictures are sideways today.”

Empty controller. All circuit boards and motor drive components removed. The green and yellow parts on the door are external PLC components not covered in this class. So they stay.
