My 5.0 Swap Attempt...

I’m new to the forum and this will be my first Ranger 5.0 swap. I have a 2001 For Ranger, 2wd, with a 3.0l automatic. I know the Explorer and Mountaineer are almost identical. Curious if anyone has done a swap with a Mountaineer and if there are any problems with that over the Explorer?

Should be exactly the same as an explorer for swap purposes.

That’s what I thought. I grew up in a Chevy household, but I’ve owned a newer Explorer and like it. Picked up this Ranger for a great price with a bad engine. So, why not do a swap?

My dad’s 2000 Ranger has a 5.0/auto/AWD from a Mountaineer. My green 2000 has a 5.0/auto/AWD from an Explorer. No visible difference. They went together largely the same except I did more work to mine with headers and stuff.
