I never shared this with you guys but while putting everything back together, I ran into a bit of a problem. My rear driveshaft was an 1 1/2in too short AND the front drive shaft was the same too long. I was unaware of this and I thought this kit would have kept my driveshafts from having to be lengthened. Well this is not the case, Wish they would have made a 6 inch adapter instead of the 5in. Oh well :( here is a pic of it installed. It has since been taken off and lengthened.

i have a 99 that i want to do this to did you have any clearance issues and did the motor mounts jus bolt right in and what about drive shaft legnth

no clearance issues... close but no issues and drive shaft i had to lengthen my rear an 1 inch & 1/2. and front one had to shorten 1in & 1/2.... i had to lengthen/shorten cuz the advance adapter kit sits about maybe an inch too short.

All motor mounts bolted right in with no issues...

certainly clean, not the most powerful route, but the cleanest, you would never know that it wasn't factory

I wasnt looking for a race motor but a reliable motor that is better than the 3.0... I needed to upgrade because i blew the 3.0 and since my year truck was a plug and play for the 5.0 i decided it was the best option for me without having to do major mods to make another bigger size motor fit. I enjoy this motor ALOT... wouldnt change it for the world

on an interesting note. i had a 98 5.0 explorer it left plenty to be desired, as i recall the hp ratings of the 5.0 explorer and the 4.0 ohc explorer were within like 10hp of each other. that was 4 years ago so i could be remembering it wrong.

man that's a clean conversion

**edit i checked wikipedia the 4.0l is 195hp, and the explorer 5.0 is 205hp

yea they both are close with the range but the 5.0 has more torque and have WAYYY more parts on the market than the 4.0. Lots more potential for the 5.0. Thats why i went that route. And thanks for the kind words...
