I never have understood why anyone would buy anything a color they don't like no matter what the color is on.

Car dealerships want to make money if they want my money they're going to give me the car I want the color I want or I'm not going to buy it period.

Well, the choice at the time was the Ranger, a Tacoma, or a 4Runner. I needed a four door, body on frame 4X4. I didn't like what Toyota did to the 4Runner. So, the field was narrowed down to the Taco or the Ranger. Then I talked to a friend of mine who works in Commercial Truck sales for a Ford dealership. He could order one for me. So, I'd rather put food on a friend's table than some random stranger. As long as it had a color that I didn't hate, throwing the friend a bone was a higher priority.

He is also the person who sold me my 2011 and will be getting my, well technically my girlfriend's business, when we go to get her a car. Feed the friends and family first, then local business before regional or national chains.

On a side note, when I bought the 2011, the Ranger was on it's way out. The only V6, Supercab, 4X4, manual transmissions models they had on the lot were red or black and I was NOT about to deal with all the issues with having a black vehicle. If I remember correctly, there were only two other Rangers on the lot. Both Sport models with automatic transmissions.

I've bought several vehicles new off the lot in years past. I'm pretty flexible on color. My first car - 1983 AMC Eagle SX4, I ordered. And I ordered it red. I still like that little car, though It's been gone since 87. Traded it in for an 88 F150 4X4, Custom trim level (basic- no fancy stuff). It was dark brown. Wasn't my preference. But the truck was what I wanted and the price was OK. So, brown it was. Later in had a 2004? Silverado. It was silver metallic with a very slight gold tint in it. Wasn't ugly. But not my favorite either. Traded that for a 2006 Yukon. Silver again. I found myself in a position several times, where I needed a vehicle. Couldn't buy used or from private party because I didn't have cash and needed to finance. So, make the best deal possible on dealer stock. The Yukon is the last new vehicle I bought, except forbthe motorcycle. And it will most likely stay that way. The motorcycle has a black/gray digital camo pattern. I wanted that when I decided what to get and the dealer had in the showroom. Yay?

It's a deeply personal decision, on knowing what your roots are.

It doesn't really matter at all to most people, and that's perfectly OK.

But for those that invest the time and have the "need to know", it is by far the closest damn thing to time travel that a human can experience. No shit. Really.

What I have found with my ancestry . . . dealing with the natives while you're killing them and stealing their land. Growing tobacco. The 1676 Bacon's Rebellion, the Stamp Tax Riot in Brunswick Town in 1766; the Regulator Movement in NC from 1766 to 1771, active involvement by ancestors in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812. Being on the "wrong side" in the American Civil War, then rebounding and rebuilding lives and fortunes. Going big into naval stores, then founding a village in Georgia that grew into a thriving town just before the turn of the 20th century. Living, and making lives; then dying, but not forgotten. All through the generations before me . . .

Some of us can trace our family lineage back to Mary Chilton… she’s credited as the first person to leave the Mayflower and step on Plymouth Rock.

But my question is did you truly NEED the vehicle?
Or just wanted a new vehicle? So you ended up with what you got.

If I truly needed a vehicle and I couldn't buy a brand new vehicle in the color I wanted. I'd buy used one before I would anything that's the color I don't want.
Save the rest of the money and wait till another year.

After spending time without a vehicle and having to beg for rides and/or borrow someone's vehicle after my one and only mode of transportation was totaled in a wreck. I vowed to never be in that position again. Plus, with me being in the military, not having transportation is not a good place to be in. Try explaining to the military why you can't make a unit formation or movement because you couldn't find a ride... Never mind the fact that I'm usually start work way before people are starting to beat on their alarm clocks.

The 2019 replaced a 1999 Honda CR-V that was no longer meeting my towing needs since it didn't have enough power nor my needs for search and rescue since it didn't have 4X4. At the time, both of my girlfriend's children were still in the house. So, I needed something with four doors. The 4Runner would have been a more logical replacement. Except Toyota ruined it.

As far as buying used, I didn't have the cash to buy what I really wanted and no bank is going to give you a loan for a vehicle that old. Plus there is the four door thing. It was very rare in trucks and SUVs before a certain year with those unless you were looking at a Suburban, Expedition/Excursion, or some other vehicle way larger than I wanted to get.

Oh, and used vehicle interest rates for what you can get a loan for were and are terrible.

As far as the redneck thing, I come by it naturally. Not only was I born in South Carolina and spent the first four or five years of my life there and in Texas, I've live in Appalachia the majority of my life in Southwestern Pennsyltucky 15-20 minutes away from West Virginia and southern Ohio. And the family has always been blue collar and working in the trades.

I've lived in Ohio all my life so far. I've travel to a few different states. I have a brother that lives in Washington State I've been there and all the states to get there.

A lot of my mom's family are from Alaska.
A lot of my dad's family are from KenF**ky.

I always liked the Eagle and I wouldn't mind having one. Assuming there are any left in existence. I haven't seen one around here for years and most of those were just on this side of not passing a safety inspection.

As far as I know, no one in our family has ever traced the family lineage that hard. I know there is Scot, Irish, English, Welsh, Austrian, and maybe some French in the family blood line but that is about it.
