What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Had a warm day with a record high temperature last week, so I checked the A/C and discovered it didn't cool. Last summer I had had to run the A/C on max to get good cooling, so clearly there was a leak. Today a shop tested the system, replaced two Schrader valves that had oil around them, topped the refrigerant, and it seemed to be holding pressure. The replacement refrigerant has a UV dye, so I get tio bring it back to the shop to check the system with a black light next week.

Forgot to mention that I returned to the shop this past Monday and it found no additional leaks with the black light. The Schrader valves were the culprits. Knock on wood, the truck should be ready for summer.

Hey… I got one of them in my ‘23.

It definitly feels quicker. And i like how the transmission shifts happen now when you push the gas

Ford put it there. I took it off because i dont need to see it full time

My oldest son just messaged me. He is at the ford dealer because they offered him a 2024 ranger xl 4x4 for 32k. He is taking it, it sounds like.


It looks like its an stx like mine so thats cool. And he got 4x4 too

Last spring, I did a full AC system overhaul. Popped that AC on today and nothing. Comp didn't engage. It was acting a little weak by the end of summer. I must have damaged an o-ring and caused a slow leak during my hast to reinstate the new 4 Season system.

They're all so quiet and comfortable when they're new. That's how dealers sell new vehicles. Seriously, hope he enjoys it.

he called last night and sent more pictures. its a good looking truck. i have never seen the rubber floor mats in the new trucks because all the ones here have carpet added on the xl package but the rubber floor looks good on the new trucks. it looks like those heavy duty mats people buy that have all the grooves to hold mud and junk.

and now i know what goes in the tiny coin cup on my center console. on his, its the 4wd/2wd selector.

Well, the 1k parts wrangler has some nice wheels on it, which will soon go on my red ranger. The tires are no good but thats ok since my truck is lowered and not lifted. 15x8 and all 5 are on the parts jeep

Pulled both the rear e-brake cables and replaced them, now have to finish connecting them. Sealed up the heater core box which allowed me to replace the passenger side front shock as well.

Got the passenger side hub down to replace the ball joints. Gonna replace the outer tie rod ends while I'm at it.

Run by me again how patching the hole in the heater Box helped get the shock done?

It was just sheer proximity. The shock was in the way of me getting to the area needed to be patched.
