Let me Further Explain my Issue ......

my ABS & Brake light would turn on randomly and i noticed that fuse #20 was blowing so i replaced it and it would randomly blow again, it doesn't do it all the time and the lights would go away once i replaced the fuse but would blow the fuse random again.

since this is the same fuse for my Turn Signals, i put in a Auto Resetting Fuse that Resets after being popped until i was able to track down the Issue since i was running low on fuses.

after i did this i didn't see those lights on my dash again, i assume it wasn't even Popping the fuse since i couldn't see the lights for 30 seconds at least when it supposed to wait to reset, so i assume Problem Solved ?

Well, One Day my Backup camera wouldn't turn and, so i checked the fuse OFC it was still OK but my Reverse lights do not work Anymore, I can turn my Camera on manually by my Radio. Brake Lights and my Front / Rear Park Lamps Work.

Before this i had an assumption my ABS Sensors or Module was going out
or something with ABS ?

so i First Tried to Replace the DTRS Since the ABS, Turn signals, Shift interlock and Brake light Switch is Still Working with that Fuse i put in, So I Replaced it and Still No Rear lights.

Yes OFC i checked my Back Lights, Lights are Good and no 12V at Connector in Reverse.

The Only Other Components i think that might be causing it are the Transmission OSS, Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor, ABS Module, Shift Interlock Solenoid (Still Works), Transmission column OD Switch (Still Works), Speed Control Module or Cruise control module (Self Diag Confirmed it Works) and The Turn Signal / Flasher (Still Works).

I Plan on Replacing the transmission OSS, Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor and the Shift Interlock Next.

After that, i am Stumped.

Any Ideas What might have Happened and what i should look into next ?

I *believe* there's a switch on the trans somewhere that activates the reverse bulbs..

I keep getting distracted reading abbreviations I dont know.

OFC??

DTRS??

Anyway, how about a quick concise recap. What does or does nonot work right now? Have you checked the wiring at the reverse switch on the transmission? Have you checked your ground connection at the rear of the truck?

Sorry my Bad,

OFC - Of Course
DTRS - Digital Transmission Range Sensor

I have not Checked the Wiring on the Harness on the trans yet, its really tight to access so i was going to do that after all else fails, and i have not checked the ground yet as i have my tail lights and brake lights working which i assume was using the same ground but i will check that today.

Right Now only my Reverse Lights are not Working, the backup camera doesn't work due to no power for the rear backup lights, but i can turn that on manually by my radio.

even if its an automatic?, i thought the Transmission Digital Range Sensor was integrated with the backup switch, that's what i have been noticing on these posts.

I would suspect the reverse switch if the backup camera trigger isn't working either

but is the backup switch integrated with the Transmission Digital Range Sensor Switch?

I’m not 100% sure. But it could still be bad or could be a broken wire somewhere.

So i Got a Chance to check the ground, i have ground on both sides when i shift in reverse but no 12v either side. i have not got a chance to check the wires on the Transmission yet, its been snowing here and i do not like the cold and my garage is a Mess.

Quite a few of us have the same problem with the cold and the snow. Except them jerks that live in the deep south. Though, they have had a bit of an unusual year down there from what I hear...

It was pretty cold here yesterday. High was only 24F. Supposed to be 50F tomorrow.

from a 2005 manual, should be similar to 2008, I hope.
fuse 20 feeds DTRS with a VT/OG wire on pin 9
DTRS outputs reverse lamp power on BK/PK wire pin 11
then thru connectors c311 under left side near frame, and c421 at the rear bumper area.
the lamp ground is g103 under the hood left side.

about that backup camera, is it factory or aftermarket?
where does it tie into the wire harness?

do you know if the DTRS goes to the Kick panel CJB fuse panel to a relay then to the lights?

Because i think im not getting power output from the DTRS if not, but then again i haven't had an time to check. it should be getting power to the DTRS otherwise if not then i shouldn't be able to start my truck ?

the camera is aftermarket, i have it tied into the wires in the back, but since there is no power in the back the camera doesn't activate automatically when i reverse by the trigger wire, but i can manually turn it on since i have it wired directly to my radio.

at the DTRS, 2 different feeds for reverse lamps and start contactors.
PK circuit 329 for starting system.
VT/OG 298 for reverse
reverse circuit 298 starts at the SJB, EDIT: I'm not certain on the relays. but does not go thru any relays.

reverse circuit 298:
starts at fuse 20 in SJB, VT/OG
splice S237 other output from splice goes to transmission control switch
connector C144, under dash left
connector C110, near rear of engine
DTRS pin 9 in VT/OG
DTRS pin 11 out BK/PK
its now circuit C167 after the DTRS, BK/PK
connector C311 underneath, near/on frame left
connector C421 at rear
splice S408
to lamps

fuse20 also powers
transmission control switch
speed control servo
brake shift interrlock
ABS control module
indicator flasher relay

Ok, im a little confused on the wording. So you're saying that the DTRS Reverse Output wire does go back to the CJB but doesn't go through a Relay or another Fuse on its way back?

So it goes to the Reverse lights directly but still passes through different connector Paths ?

This the Circuit Diagram that i found when i lookup my model.
