I can only find old forum posts in relation to this issue, which at the time you could still purchase a new liftgate lock.

Finding an 84 Ford Bronco II in a junkyard is about damn near impossible, it seems like I can only ever find Eddie Bauer editions, 86-88 models, chances are even if I did find one the liftgate lock/latch would be broken anyways.

I'm curious to know if anyone has come up with any unique alternatives so I'm not paying $288 for a new liftgate lock on Ebay, I'm almost considering actually biting the bullet on this one.

I could care less if any alternatives require any drilling/cutting, as long as I don't have to crawl through my interior anymore.

https://www.car-part.com/ cheaper than the scalpers on fleabay but might be kinda high given they know that it is a rare part.

just curious, how bad was it?
I'm only morbidly curious cause I have kinda a great little yard near me,i know of at least 3 first gen bronco's in that yard, but i am kinda fairly sure they are all glass, and I did not pay any attention to year except 1 I know is 86 and anther one is 2nd gen (not in the first 3)
