I bought this 91 4.0 STX 3 years ago. The prior owner was my father inlaw. Who bought it 6 years prior to me. Which had over heating issues so he drove it straight to a spot for a AAA tow. Turned out it was a cracked head. So new heads! Later on clutch was slipping so I gave him a hand in changing it out. After all that work. Was still having issues disengaging the clutch. Changed out the clutch master and good to go.

It was a dump/home depot run truck for him. He eventually bought a 16' 2.7t F150 lariat. Since he is a 6'2" guy the std cab was always tight for him. Not needing his cramped beater. I picked it up for a solid $1200.

After my picking it up I did coil, wires and plugs. Eventually it needed an alternator no big deal. Picked up a little worse for wear canopy for $40. Leaks but I'm going to tackle it for this coming fall.

I tend to use my truck for going up in the camping with the boys up in the woods, shooting, dump runs bad weather days, ect.

Right now I am in need of new tires. Plenty of tread left on the wranglers on there right now, but they have to be the second set the truck has seen. And was thinking about jumping up to 31s. I know I at least need a lvl kit for the front. Stx is a 1.5" compared to base trim? Other than tires I would love to new bumpers and probably toss in a spartan locker front and rear.

Some insights would be appreciated. And bumper suggestions would be solid.

Thanks, it's been a solid simi- daily for me.

The car in the car port is actually an e28. I'm going to stuff the m52b28 from the e36 in it.
I'm in the hunt for an ix e30 once i can get the e28 and my e30 done. Wish e30 prices hadn't skyrocket since I got into them. Was able to find a straight 84 318i for my father inlaw to play with. Currently almost finished. Need to play with harness swap. Stuffed a 2.7i swap it. With left over parts from my first e30 which was rear-ended.

i have done that swap, the b27 into a 318. its like the car was made for it since the engine harness plugs right in and then everything else bolts in.

is that a 528e that you are converting? it should definitely make it more fun, ha ha ha.

i just saw someone selling all the drivetrain from an ix on marketplace, yesterday.

man, when i first started playing with e30s back around 2004ish, i could buy cars for 100-300 bucks. i had 13 e30s in my driveway one time. now, they are going for 1k for rusty junk cars that are basically a parts car and anything decent is usually 3k+. it sucks. hopefully yours 318 has roll down front windows and pop out rears as those are the most desirable. and if you have a slick top with no sunroof, you got everything valuable in the same car.

my two are both manual windows but both have the sunroofs. one has rear pop outs and one doesn't. if you guys have a hard time finding any stuff, message me as i might have it on my parts car and i can just drop it in the mail.

my 84 318 is almost ready to driving under its own power. i am waiting on new master and slave cylinders to arrive today and, hopefully, the rain to finally be done.

my oldest son loves the square body rangers. i would like him to find a single cab with 4.0 and 4wd to replace his focus st since he is in a snowy area now. he got orders to nebraska with the army so its going to be a new experience as he was born and raised on the gulf of mexico in south texas. he has had a full size truck before the focus but didn't like it because of hte size. he likes my 04 ranger but its 2wd so not the best in snow so i am hoping he can find a decent older one near where he is at just to have something 4x4 in case he needs it

My e30 is an 86' 325es with an "i" head swap. Among other things. Moved the h&r race and Billie's from my old car over to this one. I did late model cooling system with a mishimoto rad, apex arc 8s. Ireland sways and header with 2.5" all the way back. Arp head bolts and a 7lb flywheel. And swapped the 2.93s out for a 3.46s. Also has ms2 and wasted spark with a gm v6 coil. Shelf parts baby. It's definitely a fun car. And ms2 with new 80lb injectors has done wonders for drivablity. Now is time for a turbo. Been a slow process. I think i have owned the car going on 9 years now. The 84 has roll ups, pop outs, and crank roof. My car was optioned out, power everything, zender skirts and rear valance. Could have bought a 325is for the same money new.

The e28 is a eta. Which is nice cause I'll have a good spare block. Picked up earlier this year for $700 non running. Got it to crank. But no spark. Came with two matching ecus. So maybe they are bad. But yeah the plan is to manual swap and double the hp with the m52b28. $300 auction car. Bought it a year ago with the intention of using it for a swap. Robbing the wheels too. The e28s are just rollers at this point and free rubber is always a plus.

If he could find a cheap beater 4x4 for winter time that would be a good thing. Even if it's a non runner to work on his days off before the season hits would be good.

You seem to be confused, this is a BMW thread , now. :icon_rofl:
Little side tracked for sure. Lol there are two ford's in our yard. 4 bmws tho haha although in the e36 trunk there's a $5k boat anchor from a Kia soul.

sorry, I only went as far as a couple VW diesels could take me.
E30s are basically a civic as far as motor swaps. I have seen m30, 24v up to n54/55, 2j, ls, k swaps, fsb, 13b.

But I can appreciate some diesel vw.

Is the tang on the flywheel? Thats super common on the etas and probably why lots got parked.

I tried ms2, way back when it first came out. I sucked at it and couldnt get the car to run. It worked on thr simulator but not in real life. I traded to this dude in town for some stuff snd he plugged it into his volvo and it started right up and he drove home. He said it worked great

Oh well, i can work carbs, not stand alone ecus

It took a little to get it to work. Also ms2 base maps are ass. My tune was less than desirable. I ended up getting a base tune from a local guru. Been great since. I had the most issues with my wide band to be honest. Ended up swapping it out for an aem. But turbine research on ig and yt will remote tune a base for 350. Which is a pretty solid rate. A local shop charges 1k for the same on a dyno. For a na tune. I also used a lot of his info for my tuning. He has turbo m20 e28 and m30 e30 making 500whp that finally blew a stock gasket.

My 91 325 iX is the one cool BMW I would like to have back. I loved that car until it overheated on the Bay Bridge and warped the head. Very easy car to work on.
