TRS Event TRS 25th Anniversary Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes - September 5th – 8th, 2024

Actually that one is towing a modern locomotive to run the power for the cars.

There is that and a modern locomotive is required for the rail network. Up until recently, UP's Bog Boy was the same way until they installed another dynamo to provide enough power to operate the equipment for the rail network communication. Though, there are other things the modern locomotive can provide, like dynamic braking. But, the Big Boy no longer HAS to have a modern locomotive in order to be compliant.

Work schedule.

No personal life if you work for the railroad

A guy I work with used to be a conductor on Norfolk Southern. He too did not have a life and didn't keep that job more than a couple years.

By that time, they had dynamos to generate electricity for lights. They use the steam to turn the dynamos for electricy generation. The only reason I know that is because I follow a youtube channel that does nothing but geek out on trains.

Next month I'll be geeking out when the Union Pacific Big Boy comes to Texas.

I hope to see it live one day. My dad was a major, major train nut. I've seen lots of steam engines all my life. But the significance of the engineering g in that class of locomotive is awesome.

The only time I've seen a steam engine in action was when I was driving across the Sewickly bridge on the way to church. Apparently, it was on the way to a museum some where. It was neat to see.

No idea. All I know is that when wires get rerun, they have to run the wires through a special printer that prints the number it needs to have before it's run. The only exception I can think of is the wires for the fuel pumps, some of those have red and black wires.

often times the best wiring guys are color blind...or limited rather. so since early on most commercial systems are base white and printed .

so.....just got home.....for a minute..bob called when i was enroute from pa and the ranger was down....walking through it figured out one of the batteries shifted and loosened the cable....I now i am looking like just me. bobby wants to go to setup deer camp and blast guns and shit. we didnt even go to the dream cruise because they took all the fun out of that.... and he thought the trails were not worth it there. that is why we suggested windrock. so i dont know.

Hmm…

I kind of enjoy doing electrical. To the point of sometimes advertising that I do boat and trailer electrical… and I’m partially colorblind. I’ve learned to work around my issues, which sometimes involves tracing out particular circuits and labeling them. Wonder how much one of those wire printer things cost…

i have had some portables....none survive field conditions.

so ... i was planning to come in early, and explore the area and run with a group once people rolled in, as there is years worth of stuff to look at and experience there....we always have to short trip so bob never gets to check shit out.

i really think he would like it but there is no one his age... so i can see that. if the boys were going to prep camp the following weekend he would come down. honestly i should be going to deer camp as well

he is ready to trade off the 250 so bringing bikes is off the table so it dont get tore up. not riding my 650 on those crazy hills we would do on the 250 and 450.... and Madi and Marc cant go due to existing plans .... sadness.

dont get to do much together..

but...gonna have that.

so.... hmmm. definitely changes my options.

dont be sad. i am going..... young bob is just doing young bob stuff.

A lot of those parts pique my interest… time to bring a decent amount of cash and do some haggling.

for the heated signal mirror kit, any idea why it’s only 2006+?

Looks like it's a good thing I can't make it, I'd be tempted to spend money I don't need to spend. Definitely a few things on that list I'd have been interested in.

Heated mirror kit
Leather steering wheel
4wd radio bezel (if same as 98 & 01 style)
Possibly the carpet kit

Did the Thunderbolts get special mirrors? I don't recall that one.

for the heated signal mirror kit, any idea why it’s only 2006+?

I was interested in that one too. Probably because the mirrors changed in 2006. I seem to recall 410Fortune using that kit on Eddie's 07 Ranger (Explorer Forums build) and the kit either replaces the mirror glass or is shaped to attach to the back of it.
