What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I think I caught mine on fire, this happened once before over a year ago. I started the truck up with the heater set to on, and smoke immediately pours out the vents. Try changing settings and nothing, rolled the windows and drove the rest of my 5 mins to work the entire time smoke was coming out the vents fairly strongly. I probably looked like I was hot boxing the hell out of it but with campfire smoke instead of dope.

I’m guessing my blower motor has leaves build up in it maybe? Anyone else have this problem ever?

I bet you don’t have mosquito problems

And is anybody old enough to remember what “hardware cloth” is? Think of a super heavy duty window screen, where the holes are 1/2” x 1/2”, galvanized altogether. You can get it with different size hole patterns, but a 3/8 or half inch should keep 99% of everything out, without blocking enough air to influence the performance on the vehicle. You just have to figure out a way to mount it across the opening, but that’s not hard.

I pressed in hardware cloth in the intake under the air filter on my ‘87 2.9- dang meeses pushed past it. Cleaned area w/ alcohol, put a flat piece of hardware cloth over the opening, and siliconed it to the bottom of the airbox. Let’s see if meeses like chewing silicone rubber.

little known fact about those meeses... they only need a hole as big as a 1/4" to gain entrance to anything you own... your truck will not keep them out. Rats need just 1/2" was told this by my pest control guy...

Some where in my low buck race truck build thread there are pics of when I modified mine so there is a neutral detente. I just drilled a divot in between 4hi and 4lo iirc. This was so I could flat tow it behind my big truck.

This one is already modified... or was bought new with a Neutral defined and indexed.

Little known fact about cats and dogs and meeses: their face whiskers grow to the width of their “practical” skull and shoulders. If the whiskers fit through, they fit through…

So if you don’t want them, just trim their whiskers..,,

Ex-mother-in-law did that to our dog once. I got pretty angry about that. Came back from a vacation trip and poor Livvy had no whiskers. I let her know in no uncertain terms that;

A. That is inappropriate to do to a dog.

And

B. It's not her dog to be defacing.

Good call on tossing the mother-in-law. Was she the mother-in-law of the “practice“ wife, or the one in the middle?

Not, NEVER, taking her side, but I bet Livvy never got stuck in the dryer vent again…

Afterthought, did she fit out the door after you cut her whiskers and gave her a swift kick in the ass?

The mother-in-law had a key and could enter and exit at will, regardless of the length of her whiskers.
