What did YOU do today?

Why not just use a crossover muffler? Less stuff to find room for. That’s how I did my Ranger and dad’s with the V-8 swaps. No X or H pipe needed for duals and one muffler to make room for.
@lil_Blue_Ford ,
The 2017 PIU uses a crossover muffler, I was tempted, for more time than I enjoy admitting, to use it or a shorter version.

If I can, I will use the components Ford sold me, the original "H" pipe connection is serving well towards a true dual exhaust.

I was hard focused on a cross flow muffler or a 2 into 2 cat until I shared with my machinist the stock parts I had lying around to work with.

I have the dual exhaust plumbing 97% worked out on paper; if I had the 2 tanks of gas for my welder, it would be reality.

Using 2 cats staggered, with the 2 mufflers also staggered, circle gets the square; I'm just not 100% on how/where I want the tubing to exit.

What did I do today? I crawled out of bed. All Saturday afternoon, I could feel myself getting sick. Had a couple cheese quesadillas for an early dinner. Crawled into bed shivering like a V8 running on 3 cylinders for about 2 hrs. Stayed in bed except to let the dog out or go to the bathroom, until 9:00 this morning. Finally ate a piece of toast with jam, took a shower, went to CVS and now I'm heading back to bed. Called work and took vacation for today and tomorrow. I was already scheduled off for Wednesday and Thursday.

Happy stinkin' new year!!!

Dang... that's ruff. With Covid last year... I couldn't even sleep in a bed. Slept for about ten days straight days in my reclining chair. Great better soon...

We are pulling down and packing up Christmas stuff today. Got the Christmas ham bone in the crock pot making some bean soup. Got the kids coming for dinner... so I'll be making a big steak nacho with beans and rice.

I was pretty much over the sinus infection I had, just in time for Christmas. We were told by the girlfriend's parents that they were sick but on the down hill slide. So, it was ok to come for Christmas. Well, her dad still had a fever when we arrived and the trooper that he is, still prepared food and what not for the family like he always does but that also meant, we got whatever he had as a bonus Christmas present. Sound round #2 of "fun" for me. I go back to work tomorrow on 2nd shift and I'm pretty much over the current sickness. But the girlfriend had to throw in the towel yesterday and will actually have to take time off work because of it. She doesn't get paid time off, so she can't afford it, but she works in home healthcare with a lot of people who are immune compromised. So, the household isn't all that merry or celebratory at the moment.

Put the snow chains on the lawn deere, if I need it to move a trailer it will certainly be helpful. The ford tractor has the blade on it which isn’t hard to remove or install but with the ground so soft (unless it ever freezes) the less weight , the better.

I don’t ever wanna live in a place where I have to put snow chains on the lawnmower. I’ve been very mildly bummed a little bit because it’s only 47° and I have to work out in the cold.

Do they actually make those chains, or is it something you came up with?

They came with the mower when I bought it (used), I assume its a deere accessory. I also have rear weights for it and a front snow blade. Was a pretty good deal, only $800 for it all and he threw in a dumping yard cart. Ive only used the blade once, my bigger tractor with a rear blade does better in serious snow.

They do indeed make snow chains for lawn tractors. Mainly for plowing snow but an imaginative person can find them helpful in other situations as well. Like mud. Lawn tractor turf tires generally don't handle mud well.

Good luck and feel better. I had the flu the week before Christmas. My wife made me go to the doc and they tested me. My son ended up getting it too. They gave us Tamiflu which helped us get through it faster I think.

Last year my wife got Covid and was hospitalized for 11 days. She was on lots of O2, one step down from the ventilator. She is immuno-compromised but oddly enough didn’t pick up the flu from us.

Went camping at the coast, took the boat and went crabbing yesterday and today, between the 4 of us over two days somewhere around 60 dungenous crab so not too bad, we weren't trying too hard either... a LOT of people out yesterday though.

My contractor showed up today, there was actually 2 tanks buried in the ground. Dug them out & now have a tank underneath the house. Not that I find it ideal but its damn sure better than 7 ft under the ground beside the well. Money well spent! Took them all of 3 hours. would of took me all day, possibly a whole weekend.

Well worth it.

Well, this is about to be on its way home… solid cab and frame for the truck pulling the parts, lol

Kind of like training your replacement at work...
Yeah. Kinda. Gonna be a little bit before I get really into the rebuild, I’m just starting the parts collecting bit. A solid cab and frame was kinda hard to pass up. I need a few more bits and pieces and need to make a few decisions, but I have time. Basically, I want to reinforce the known weak spots in the frame, rehab my drivetrain (bearings, seals, bushings, etc), rebuild the transmission, do some engine work, but basically swap as much of my current F-150 over. The donor frame is a 2wd and I’m not sure how much of a problem that will be but I’ll long arm a straight axle and throw it in if it is a big problem. I have to get the dump truck rehabbed first though because I don’t want to not have a big truck around for when one is needed and doing all this work to the F-150, it’s gonna be down a hot minute. One step at a time though.
