What did YOU do today?

Finally got the pallet jack functional! The one I want still needs some tweaks but the handle is on with 3 new pins and one new bushing (not ideally used soft copper pipe but it's what was available... in hind sight should have used the PEX I had). Other than that just cleaned out the tool bag to take to the junkyard with a buddy tomorrow... gonna see what I can end up with for half off...

I got the clown car back in commission. I start on the biannual maintenance on the 2019 today. It doesn’t require much. Oil change, brake inspection, tire rotation, lube the hinges and latches. So, it should go pretty quick. I all goes as planned, the valence insert and the new cap seal will get installed as well. The cap seal is thicker than the original and should fix the leak problem.

I didn't get to the cap seal but the valence insert is installed. I still have the mount for the dune flag laying around as well. I need to figure out where I want to put that as well. Looking at how the front fascia blends the front to the bumper, I guess it's going to have to go on the rear bumper somewhere.

Emptied out part of the basement of mom's house.
My dad passed away two years ago and mom is finally downsizing from their big house to a single-level ranch that is literally across the street. Bed of the truck is filled with Hefty Steel Sacks that I'll toss in the dumpster at my work on Monday.
My parents never threw away anything. En. Ee. Thing.
JFC, there's shit that belonged to my grandparents when they passed away. There's a freaking violin. NO ONE in my family ever played the violin.

I went to do the front brakes on mom’s Murano only to find the calipers on the thing are two piston and extremely likely to be original (mom is the second owner but this thing has only like 40-60k on it) and the calipers I got are single piston. Called the parts store and they had to go to a year newer and the convertible top version to find two piston calipers. Everything else appears to be correct, but the calipers have to come from the hub store, which means they won’t be at the local store until around 1pm tomorrow and if I want them then, I’ll have to run up to the store, or I wait till Monday and have them delivered. Argh. Probably fetching them tomorrow, I got a lot of other stuff to deal with right now.

Also adjusted the green Ranger headlights a little higher (way too low), and drained the water from the cooling system in the Choptop and filled it with coolant. Unloaded the green Ranger bed where I had all my grilling stuff from last night. Apparently I have a few nearly empty tanks sitting around, gonna have to do something about that soon. Two are going to have to be exchanged, but I think the other three are good to refill. I’ve been kicking around the idea of trying to run a few batches of beer again and if I do, I’m gonna need all of those tanks full. If I remember correctly, a batch of beer requires around half a 20# propane cylinder, possibly a little more.

Went to the junkyard by work with a buddy and his daughter, he was after a Vortec 350, I was after a 2.4L from a Toyota, very glad there were 3 of us as there's a fairly serious incline involved getting back to the office... we did get those two engines and he also got a hood and grille from the Tahoe the engine was from... there you can borrow a A frame with chain hoist for a $40 deposit which is worth it... We put all that in the F350 to my house, I'll drag his stuff to his house tomorrow... The 2.4L I got is apparently a reman unit since it has the heat tabs on it, someone had taken the transmission from the Scion it came from but they also took the exhaust camshaft, whatever, I just want to increase the speed of turning around the wife's Camry... it burns a LOT of oil... and all said and done with a spare alternator and power steering pump I'm just shy of $250 into the engine...

Not much today. Maybe a little task here and there but that's it. I need a recovery day, and Sunday is supposed to be that way anyway.

Put down Vinyl plank flooring in the downstairs of my mother house. Then more plumbing. Got the washer hooked up to the water line run to the toilet.

I was not expecting to have to do any plumbing in this house when I bought it, but it turned out I had to pretty much redo all the plumbing……… great, my favorite.

Sooner or later I'm going to have to do some plumbing work as well. Mostly replacing valves. While I could rebuild most of them, I want to install ball valves with a lever handle so they don't get stuck like valves with a knob can. And I can't isolate sections of the house like I want to. I have to shut water off to the entire house in order to work on anything. I don't like plumbing work either. It always turns into a "broken bolt" job.

mowed for the last time this year, dug out the winter tires for the escape & ranger and aired them up. The alloy escape wheels had very little air in them, the steel wheels that will go on the ranger were all about where they should of been. Both sets had been stored in the box trailer and all the tires are only about 3 years old. Didn’t feel like changing them out yet. I dont like to do a lot on a sunday anyways. Not a fan of the cooler weather but it does make life better at work.

You always need at least one ball valve coming into the house. They don’t leak when they get old.

A lot easier to turn on and off too. Just more expensive.

Installed two 24V AC LED indicator lights in the house furnace intake duct system. One shows power to the humidifier switch and one shows power from the switch to the humidifier.

I get tired of having to sort out power to the humidifier with a voltmeter anytime I'm wondering if the humidifier is working.

The 24V AC power from the furnace control board failed a few years back. At least the 120V AC auxiliary power from the board is still working so I used that to power a 24V AC door bell transformer to power the humidifier.

Not much yesterday. I did take the tailgate off of the utility trailer just to see how much it weighed. 1/3 of the weight of the trailer is just in panels. The trailer weights 1,200# empty with all the panels on it. The panels total 395# of that weight. 52# for the front, 101# for the left side, 107# for the right side, 75# for the tailgate, and 60# for the middle ramp section stowed under the trailer when not in use. I haven’t weighed the remaining support legs for the ramp that are mounted under the trailer when not in use but I suspect they are about 5#. So, if that is correct, the trailer is 800# when fully stripped and is nothing but a flat bed.

It rarely is ever used in that configuration but is good to know if it is ever needed. That gives me a number to work with as far as what can be loaded and not bust the weight limit in any configuration.

I hate plumbing. I know how to do it and I’m capable of doing it, I just hate working with plumbing. I’d much rather do electrical. Unfortunately, plumbing seems to be one of the common things to have to do something with, so I end up doing far more of it than I want to. Still rather deal with electrical, lol

Moved a couple sets of wheels/tires around the yard yesterday, put the tounge jack on the trailer, and got the bore adapter half installed on the caddy lol.

Hoping to go get a tank of gas for the welder later on today so I can finally start making progress on stuff.
