What did YOU do today?

Did a pre-class boom lift training thing on the work computer today.. actual class/test is tomorrow at 1pm.

Also bought into the stock market... dipping my toes in via Robinhood (app). Totally gambling on 42 shares of Leafly holdings.. and the app gave me 5$ free so I got myself a half share of Ford lol.

Went over to my brothers to work on his Ford 7000 tractor again, this time he ordered a new injector for the one cold cylinder and a compression tester for diesel engines so we could check the health... In optimal conditions it should be 370psi I think we read but he runs a standard deep cycle battery and the connections aren't great and we still got 320psi on a semi warm engine on the back two cylinders with more to go just a handful of compression strokes... also took the side cover off the injector pump and found some goo so we sprayed that out then changed the oil in the pump. Too early to tell but seems to be running better? It likely needs a pump rebuild, cylinder 4 is still cooler than the other 3 and that port on the exhaust gasket is leaking what I'm assuming is fuel... while cranking and doing the compression test we just had the back injectors out with the kill cable pulled and #4 was still pumping fuel, not enough to pop off the injector (we checked) but still not likely right...

On another note, my nickel rod and piston rings came in for the 5.0L, I'll get back to working on that Thursday, gotta pick out a cam...

Packed up some food and beer and headed to the camp ground.

Finally started deswamping the wheeler today since its done nothing but rain since we went riding..

4 quarts must of came out the first time I dumped the oil lol. Capacity is 2.75 😋

I then filled it with some Rotella I had laying around (safe for wet clutches) ran it a second, dumped it, and refilled. Gotta pick up a couple filters and a couple more gallons of oil once I get paid and I'll be back at it 💪

No smoke.. no noises.. hoping it will stay that way 🤞

Today I was awoke by a security guard as I realized the pride I had taken in my stealth camping spot was a total fail.
Then after I moved, I woke 2 hours later to a massive downpour causing my Bronco to become a snare drum (albeit a dry snare drum). Then after I woke again at a more reasonable time, I hung out with my kids, had lunch and took them shopping and eventually got a haircut.
Now I believe it's almost 4:20 somewhere.
Oh and I became a supporting member of the forums. 👍 I imagine it takes a few days for the badge to kick in.

If it doesn't show you being a supporting member after a few days, message Jim Oaks. Sometimes, the switch doesn't "flip" like it's supposed to.

Right on. I'm just happy to support it. It's a worthy place to keep going. It's really helpful. One day I'll add the Ham Radio Operator on there if I ever challenge the test. I have the radio, now I need to study the book

Crappy day at work, found out someone I've talked to many times over the last few months (boat service shop owner in Alaska, bought several of our engines from work) passed away on Friday, not sure how old he was but sounded youngish so 40's to 50's I'd guess, got diagnosed with liver cancer about a month ago...

Then I went to the meeting for the tractor pull I go to every year and helped out a little, show isn't till the second weekend in September...

Then I got home and spent a bunch of money... bought a cam, bearings and springs for the 5.0L, short timeframe so went with an off the shelf cam (slim pickins right now it seems too...) but Amazon had a scratch and dent one (says just packaging damage) for half price so I got all that for $430ish, springs from Summit...

Technician is easy. General is a bit harder but both are a walk in the park compared to Extra. You can do it. QRZ.com offers a practice test for free. I can’t remember if you have to login to access it or not. eHam offers a practice test as well but when I practiced with theirs, they had some wrong answers. The owner of the other site I used retired and shut down the site.

Dropped the dodge off to have the rockers and cab corners replaced so I can get it inspected. Also looks like I’m going to need a new set of tires asap.
I got a flat tire driving it home the other day, realized that the tires on it were 12 years old and the spare is 28.
What is your dodge vehicle that you have ? my 93 f-150 5.8 v8 4x4 tires are 14 years old and the spare is 29.

How did you clean your garage

With a trash can... broom... putting stuff back where it belongs... transferring several bigger things to the basement or shed.
