Dodged a bullet yesterday

Only certain types of rubber will stand up to gasoline. Buna-N is a common one, and Viton is another, even more expensive. What is normally done, is regular rubber is used on the outside of fuel rated hose, and the inner part of the hose is lined with Buna-N or Viton. That is why regular fuel hose is not rated for submersion in the fuel. They do make hose that has the good stuff all the way through and is rated for submersion, but it is very very expensive hose.
You're not assuming I used other than gas line hose are you?

It occurs to me that it might really have been goodyear hose. A friend used to sell Model A parts at swap meets after he retired from the Air Force. One summer he bought a new enclosed trailer, loaded it up and headed to Hershey. Before he got there one of the "made in China" Goodyear trailer tires blew out so violently it ripped the fender off his trailer. Maybe they make gas line in China, too.

In my experience, Goodyear never made a good tire. Over priced garbage.

I agree with that. BFG is where its at.

Either way this thread makes me nervous....i was planning on running new fuel hose on my LTD.

Maybe i should take my chances with the 50 yr old factory hose

Don't even think about it, just buy Gates hose.

Hardline what you can if the factory line is rusted. Just use short pieces of rubber. No different than running pre-flared brake lines. And you can use the Nickel copper lines for the fuel line also.

Yeah i gotta inspect all that. I was planning on using hardline

You say that but I bought some Gates heater hose a few years ago that had leaks pre-installed. Actually paid more at the parts store for it over the generic hose they had.

If you want a serious tough fuel hose, get THIS STUFF, if you're lucky you might be able to find it at a boat repair shop, it's like regular fuel injection hose but with a teflon liner so it's impervious to fuels... it says working pressure of 50psi but one of our vendors did a burst pressure test and it blew at 1000psi... (it was being questioned since we use it on 4 bar/58psi fuel systems at work)

I haven't had a bad Gates hose in the last almost 50 years.

I trust dang near nothing made in the last 3 years, everything has gone down the crapper, even the gold standard filter company Wix sold out and stopped making a handful of products screwing people over...

I put a wix on my quad and was not impressed. It was the same exact part number that i used the time before and either from a quality control issue, or a cheaping up issue, the threads were to short and it would tighten down but wasnt tight against the block. It pissed oil everywhere.

So i stuck an STP on it

Both my John Deere and Husqvarna lawn tractors run the same Motorcraft FL910 as my Escape, if it's good enough for a DOHC EcoBoost it's good enough for a 20 something HP V twin.

A couple years ago Wix sold out to Mann and Hummel which is why the store brand filters now say Mann and Hummel instead of Wix like they used to, same for AC Delco. The problem at work is for the last 20+ years we've been using the same "corvette" fuel filter/regulator assembly because it spits out the right pressure that we need and is compact and simple, Wix made a nice reliable unit, it was discontinued and now the store brands and even AC Delco are made by Luberfiner (I'm pretty sure they're a fine company, but this filter is sub par) and it's like 50% more expensive and designed way worse... you could feed the Wix unit with any pump you wanted and it would give good pressure, the new one has a 1/8" return port so instead of 58psi with a big pump it will spit out 80psi...

I'm not too picky on oil filters, most of what I drive isn't known for having oil pressure or bearing problems...
