Hello everyone!! Am going down the path of helping my son V8 swap his Mazda B4000 truck and have begun my research. Looks like the 99-01 Explorer is going to be the most cost effective and least invasive path to do this. Only thing I am not finding much on is the 2wd automatic trans part of it. Our truck has that 2wd auto 5R55E trans in it. Will it bolt up to the 5.0 out of the explorer and is there any wiring issues to overcome with it? Is there another trans you would recommend for this? Thanks a ton for any and all advice on this.

A project for sure but a fairly basic one compared to some. Just gathering feedback from those who have been there already before I begin. From what I am gathering I will need a 2wd 4R70W to go back into mine with.

Yup, your stock trans will neither connect to a 5.0 or like its power output.
