Todays weather

We got about 2” of wet snow and the forecast says it’s supposed to stay in the 30’s the rest of the week.

Hopefully, things will dry up enough to get the leaves chopped up and dumped in the garden. The temperatures shouldn’t effect the retaining wall work.

Suddenly, getting the carport up for the winter has been moved to the front burner. This weather is a bunch of BS. At least the majority of the fall vehicle preventative maintenance has been completed. Just some fluid film work and maybe a air filter or two needs changed.

We got an inch or two of snow yesterday... most of it melted. But it's snowing again now.

I swear I saw on the news that the northern east coast is gonna get hammered with 3 to 4 feet of snow.

Just keep it over there. We don't want it where I live.

Under 20* this morning.
Didn’t get over 35* yesterday, had to break out the insulated bibs early this year to finish doing yard work.
Light snow on Saturday, on the ground too.

It’s unseasonably cold here, but not unheard of.

There's a lot of that going around. It might be a very interesting winter.

The Farmers Almanac and The National Weather Service did both predict a long cold winter. I'm not surprised, simply incovienced.

I've been hearing everywhere that it'll be a wet and warm winter..

You better be wrong lol.

I looked again.

The NWS predicts a warmer and wetter winter for the east coast. Colder then average for the NW and great planes.

The Farmers Almanac was predicting a colder then average winter all around.

Since I prefer speculation and hearsay to facts I am going to assume The Farmers Almanac is correct.

It has already been colder than normal here. So, I'll go with the Almanac.

Its been colder here lately too. Supposed to warm up over freezing for the holiday. We got a dusting of snow, I loaded 400# of softner salt in the back just as a precaution. While im not really ready for winter, Im mostly prepared.

It’s way colder than normal for this time of year here. It is what it is and I can’t change it. It’s supposed to be in the mid to low 40’s the rest of the week. I’ll make the best of it as I can.

I got the leaves out of the yard and into the garden. The top layer of dirt was still frozen at the end of the day but I was able to break through it with the spading fork to work the leaves into the dirt some. So If it stays that way, I should be able to at least work the leaves into the dirt and more or less level it out. I still need to finish the retaining wall but I can do that in the cold. Turning frozen dirt is another story.

The low was 33°, the high was 68°.

There was close to a foot of snow in northern Michigan on Monday and was in the teens overnight. It's warmed up all week and much of the snow has melted. I was casting spinners and drifting spawn bags in Elk Rapids yesterday with Temps in the 50's.

Our pre-winter has been more heat and humidity. When I lived north, the threat of winter was a fine motivator to finish projects on vehicles and outside the house. That motivator doesn’t exist here so the procrastinator in me is running unchecked. We went back up to MN to visit family and it was in the 30s and 40s mostly. I like that weather and miss it but not so much the windy -10 weeks that are coming.

It warmed up some during the day here. With the sun being at a low angle, it hasn’t helped much with the garden work since the garden remains in the shadows much of the day. The top 5” of dirt is still frozen, slowing the work down but I’m stubborn. We have rain today. So that might help soften the dirt up some but I’ll need to wait a day or two for the dirt to dry up enough that I can work it.

So, I’ll probably start working on putting the carport up for the winter. The family is doing Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. So, that will slow things down some but it’ll get done.

It was just above freezing and rained all day here. Pretty crummy combo.
