They do work sometimes. I woulda bought a lottery after that luck.Mine came from O'Reilly. Worked fine and fixed my issue back then (it'd idle at 450RPM and stall).
Yep, idle RPMs too low likely adversely effects OilPump pressure & Alternator voltage outputs.
Have V6~4.0L~SOHC here not 4.0L~OHV, but FordOE PressureSensor\Switch is a NotoriousFailureItem no matter the engine.
Over last 20years with this 4.0L & stock oil pressure switch, immediately before an engine Oil+Filter change, gotten habit of
spraying a little CarbThrottleCleaner down Oil DipTube+Fill, then running Engine for 5~10min, then changing Oil+Filter;
believe this helps clear sludge buildup & makes OilPressureSwitch respond a little quicker,
Also switched from OE spec 5w30.Blended to 0w30.FullSyn in Spring & 0w20.FullSyn in Autumn;
believe this helps get oil flowing quicker during ColdStarts, specificly to the PressureSwitch & the notorious TimingTensioners.
