86 Bronco II... G-Unit

When I did mine, I just used spray adhesive (ie rubber cement :)).
Obviously not like butyl stuff, but worked for me.

So I'm pulling apart the fuel system to simplify things a bit. My plan is to only do it once. I'm gonna go from the factory 2 pump and canister filter to a single in-tank high pressure pump and an in-line filter.

First step is to drain out the old fuel and get the tank removed. The fuel was about the color of maple syrup and smelled like stuff my grandmother used when she was refinishing antique furniture.

The next picture is what I sucked off the bottom of the tank. Lots of crunchy stuff. I'm not even gonna fool with it... new tank ordered.

Amazon had a new tank for $119... delivery tomorrow. But... Amazon warehouse had a returned unit... returnable still for $35.96. Won't be here until Tuesday. Hope I don't regret taking the returned unit.

You think about sealing the new tank? Redkote is pretty highly regarded from what I can tell.

So I'm also set on gauge position. I think I kinda like them on the dash... adds 10 hp easily.

I also set my tuffy console in it and got a feel for it. Drink holders will have to go on the back... and with them there... rear seat won't fold away. Just another reason I guess to just pull them out. This is the 6 1/2 inch wide console... and I think it fits perfect.

Think I'm going to mount the Hella navigation light just like it sits. Will come in handy for covert doobie rollin or maybe reading a map. I told my wife it was for her to scratch lottery tickets at night... she loved the idea!

I need to figure out my switch box (probably inside the console), battery outlet and USB charge port.

I bet the gas that you pulled out of it was only $1.29 a gallon way back when it was pumped in.

I like that siphon you have. What brand is it, or where can one be purchased?

I guess I'm off to Google Redkote...

I bet you're right about the price of that fuel. I'm just not sure where to dipose it.

I got that siphon from Amazon too. It works well. I can look up a link if you want. There are many to pick from.

Thanks, but I'm just going to look around the parts stores around me for one like yours. I live so far out in the boonies any kind of delivery sucks.

I also have disposal problems with my old fluids, especially oil. Just did an oil change on one of my trucks and realized that I've got a BUNCH of old oil, and I really need to look at finding some place that will take it all.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your fuel system revamp turns out (it'll be good, I'm sure).

Oil is easy around here... fuel... not so much.

Heads up on the primer bulb. I saw two types... I believe one is a flow through. That's the one you want. The other type you have to continually pump the bulb to transfer fluid. Also... the tubing is 1/2 inch food grade tubing that came in my kit.
Try siphonepro.com

mix used oil with the fuel to quench the flash point, then the next time you use the burn barrel pour it on. I usually wait till after dark, Id love to build a barrel stove for the garage and add a line with a valve so I could drip used oil on the flame. Not exactly on the list when its been so hot out.

My county does hazardous liquid disposal four times a year. They will dump out a can of gas and give you back the can.

Dumped 60 something gallons of motor oil a few months ago I had been accumulating for 5/6 years.
driveway looks a lot better now without all those bottle.

I just looked... they will take old fuel... but it has to be left in a container. I hate to give up a fuel jug... they're not cheap these days.

Just use Gaterade bottles.
