Tractor implement paints

I personally like Durabak bed liner and I am doing my newest project in it, forest green.

I do think Durabak has high temperature paint if you wanted to check it out.

I sure wish the former owner would have gotten the Durabak liner paint job right on the G-Unit... be sure to share your truck when you're done sir.

Any paint will work on an engine or brake calipers. The only thing in a car that gets too hot for paint is exhaust. "High heat" paint, especially rattle can, is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get you to spend more money.

They do hold up to chemicals, like brake cleaner, much much better. I found that out when I used regular paint on the calipers of a previous vehicle. I had to be very careful where I sprayed brake cleaner or the paint would get washed off. On another vehicle that I had used brake caliper paint, I never had a problem. So there is a difference but regular paint can be made to work.

Farm implement paint is mean to be put over rusty and ill prepared surfaces where shine and quality is not the top priority. As others have noted, it tends to be harder then car paint. Rustoleum tends to do okay, but, it is a bit soft, but, thinned (think I used Xyltol?) it sprays nicely on 4x4s and trailers using a regular car spray gun. Forget about waxing it.

I agree that the paint sprays well and is very forgiving.

The only way I could see any kind of waxing working is if it's a spray on product. As rough as flat paint sprays, I don't think other than spray washing is going to work. The usual sponges and what not used for washing is going to get torn up pretty quick on flat paint. Though, I doubt many would even consider washing their vehicle or trailer if flat paint has been used anyway.

Hmmmm...

My Bronco II might have the world's worst paint job.

I was just thinking I might bust out my new pressure washer and have at it.

Zero degree tip should get the job done.

In general rattle can sucks, when i say that i mean 1k products. If it doesn't use a hardener it will get washed off, some might take more effort but they will certainly soften easily. That's why old cars painted with lacquer you could easily damage the paint with solvents.
I have base/clear on my calipers. When I worked for a paint supplier years ago we mixed up limco (basf lower line) enamel for the local por-15 guy in different engine colors (chevy orange, robins egg blue, etc). We put it in pint cans and he put his own por-15 "high heat engine enamel" labels on them lol.

Tractor and implement paint holds up better to wear and fade than regular paint

Not in parts of the country with high UV and hot weather. I've seen people paint differential and other things under a truck and it holds up very well. I've used it to paint old garden equipment. It's better than most spray paints, but unless it has UV inhibitors in it the sun combined with hot summers breaks it down. I painted a rototiller with implement paint about 20 years ago. It didn't turn chalky to the point of coming off on my hands, but it has weathered it enough that I can see some light rust stains appearing. But, I'm thinking of rebuilding the engine on the rototiler and if I do I'm going to use implement paint again.
