Thank you so much!Yes, you have to pull the valve body. Make sure to get the updated solenoid with two holes in it. I found Ford NOS on ebay for ~$40. Works great.
If you’re going to pull the valve body, I would highly recommend at least a shift kit (Transgo) if not the rest of the valve body mods. You will thank me later…
Yeah, it is a bit of an exercise in patience and cleanliness, but so worth it. My 92 went from typical sloppy A4LD shifts to crisp shifting and stomping on the gas from a stop would light up the tires… with an LS rear. I don’t think I’ve ever got an A4LD anything to light up the tires until I did that. Think I had even picked up a little mpg.I agreed on this, I did the Transgo kit, very simple if you take your time and lay out a clean work place.
It definitely makes a difference on how the A4LD performs.

It has short time on a rebuild here locally, shifts perfectly smooth, Symptoms are i cant take off in OD at a standstill, BUT i can shift into OD manually at HWY..speed, Bt if you don't down shift at stopping ( just under 25mph) the TC is DIS-enaged, ALL else is puurrfect! The 89 code is only one puling up on the OBD meter test! Read it out at the Computer ( pin 22-37) it reads 64 ohms, i blv 20-30 is correct point? If you’re going to pull the valve body, I would highly recommend at least a shift kit (Transgo) if not the rest of the valve body mods. Oh i sure appreciate the response, i had a full blown thing done, everything hi performance, gotta oem tcc solenoid on way, ill report back when done! Thank you!If the rebuild didn’t do a shift kit, I would still recommend it.
I don’t know enough offhand to say what exactly your problem is. I believe there is a thing on the tech pages that’s a whole service manual thing for the A4LD that I referenced a bunch working on mine
Hope you got new gaskets, the valve body gaskets are not re-useableOh i sure appreciate the response, i had a full blown thing done, everything hi performance, gotta oem tcc solenoid on way, ill report back when done! Thank you!
Thank you so much lil blue Ford, really app the help! !Hope you got new gaskets, the valve body gaskets are not re-useable
