What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Not "directly" ranger related, but it's spare parts for the '90... Picked up a block for spares on Monday that's a blown up DIS engine, tonight it cooled off enough for me to drag the pallet that had the other engine that I got with my '97 (even though it appears to be an '88, free is free...) so I put them next to eachother for more efficient storage... after this picture I put a ratchet strap from the pallet, over the first engine, under the center board, then over the second engine, then back to the center board, should hold it good for now...

Between the two engines I think I should be able to build up a small journal twin plug DIS 2.3L turbo for the '90 like I should have done from the start... and if I play my cards right it might even hold oil! Although this is a future project, when parts show up you go for it...

I just had to get the whole jackassery in the picture... engine hoist (vintage HFT, circa ~2000), old tractor with janky 3 point forklift, 4.6L of fury on one pallet... or is it 4.6L of currently junk that needs polished? whatevs... It is supposed to "rain" (.1") tomorrow so I put it in the shop in front of the boat, apparently the wife took the boat keys on vacation so it's not a big deal if I block it in :)

All back together again after re-engineering and bomb proofing the spring perches. Today I got driveshaft and shocks bolted in, wheel nuts torqued and the brakes bled. All ready to race right now and it's FIFTEEN DAYS before the next event. That never happens to me.......... Maybe I'll clean it for the first time in three years LOL.

Also glued the "fake ID" back on the grille LOL....

Transmission parts delivery moved to tomorrow. Pulled the pan on the 92 and letting it drip. Posted an update in detail in my thread in the transmission forum. Basically there is no magnet and a bit of sludge and I’m open for recommendations on how to proceed. I’ll try for som pictures maybe…

my stock leaf is a single-leaf fiberglass spring. very low gvwr rating-and its a longbed! without the coil helpers (and 4.10 rear, it was a 3.45) it could do very little. the straps you see are to help limit axle wrap.

Fiberglass spring? I was not aware there was such a thing. Mine has the 3 spring pack but they’re so worn out the section in front of the axle actually has some negative arch. The only reason the ride height is so high is because it has 2.5” blocks in the rear. I bought it that way and for $400 im not complaining to bad lol. Thats an interesting setup though, if i needed something to keep the axle wrap under control i would probably just build a set of slappers.
