What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I'm not trying to mess with engine rpm.

For those not familiar with it; the line lock or roll control is a solenoid operated valve in line with the front brakes. So, while I have the brake pedal pushed and there is pressure in the brake cylinders, I would push and hold a button energizing the solenoid valve. This valve closes and holds hydraulic pressure in the brake cylinders. Then I am free to release the brake pedal and use my foot on the clutch and the vehicle doesn't move until I release the button.

At the drag strip, that's one method to hold the car on the line so you can get engine RPMs up and hold the clutch in all at the same time. Or do a burnout without having to hold the brake pedal in. For me offroad, think of it as hill control.

Yeah, I have looked into them for my twin stick for doing front digs.

Everybody else was talking about hand throttles so I threw in my bit about the A/C idle kickup solenoid.

I refuse to accept a twin stick as anything but a Np203/205 doubler...

Simply adding a high-low lever to a single case isn't actually achieving anything but 2wd low. A twin stick doubler gives you 3 speeds in 4 and 2wd. Which is actually a triple stick if done right...

4wd on and off lever for the 205, hi-low on the 203 lever, and hi-low on the 205 lever.

So you have hi-hi, hi-low, and low-low in both 4x4 and 2x4.

But what if you want or need "front only" ?

Line lock and drag the rear? :dunno:

The np203 is a AWD transfer case with lock mode. I'm sure you could set up a double with the open part of the 203 intact, add a fourth lever that would leave the 203 open or lock feature alone which in "open" would be sending most power to the front?

I'm not a scientist... I just think twin stick should mean you have a doubler.

A doubler would make my life much more fun.

I still have the 203/205 setup off my Ramcharger if you want it. I'm not at all motivated to get rid of it though so you may not like my price lol. High angle 1410 yokes alone cost me a pretty penny. :icon_rofl: I have at least 3.5k into that transfer case setup not including my custom shifters and linkage.

Atlas wasn't a thing back then... Well it was, just not cheaper than what you could make with a doubler. There 4 speed cases were like 8 grand if I recall. Average Joe couldn't afford anything from Atlas is all I know.

Yeah the adaptor to add a 203 gearbox isn't cheap. I checked into it... for a triple stick.

I know a few years back there was a guy on here talking about a shop. That was thinking about making B.W. 1350/1354. Doublers, for us rbv folks. I wish that would have happend.

I know nothing about borg other than they always try to assimilate me....

We know you could do it, and i think you would look fantastic, with a cybernetic monacle, a plasma cutter on one hand, and a tig on the other,

This guy.... He gets it....

You're my new best friend.

Then when the inspector came to look at your work, you could just stare at him and say in the most intimidating way. What these welds, these welds are perfect!!! While striking an arc his direction.

Seven of nine was hot as hell....

Did you know she is back in 'Picard'?

So is Q. But given that Picard was responsible for the existence of life forming on earth, how can he die of old age without his partner, the omnipotent Q.

Got the pressure washer out and tried to clean it up. It's much better. But there is still some mud underneath. It would be great to get it up on a lift to wash the bottom. After that, I libed the front suspension and sprayed WD40 on the moving parts of my airline quick connect fittings for airing up tires. It's a real pain when you can't get the hose to lock on the fitting.

I also have a line lock kit on order. Cant help but thing it would be useful when rock crawling. Much cheaper and easier to install than an automatic transmission. I just need to figure out where to mount the solenoid valve.

That's easy. Mount the solenoid valve on the truck.
