My New House & Workshop

If the door is shifted to the left it solves the problem and saves hundreds of dollars and time.

There’s a reason they call it stew! Safety first, always!

For clarity. I said:

“it’s probably just the meter. They’ll puff once in a while as part of the regulation process, but best to check.”

You know I speak with colorful language for fun, but sometimes it can be misinterpreted. What I meant above was that the device, the gas meter which also has an integral pressure regulator Can “burp” once in a while, which I called “puff.”

I was speaking to the chemical engineering principles of regulating the gas pressure and flow, not to the government and political regulation of the zoning parameters.

I also started out with:

“Yes, have the gas company check.”

which I still fully recommend, as I would recommend any time someone thinks there might be a gas leak.

no worries here, more minds are better than one....

I called the gas company. They used the sniffer tool and detected a leak at a connection going to the meter (see arrow). The sprayed soapy water on it. It bubbled. The guy tightened it with a wrench and re-checked it. No more leak. Checked the area where the plumber had dug, and then checked around the outside of the shop and my house. No other leaks detected. Good to go.

The distance from the meter to the red line where I'd cut the wall open is 3' 3". So I'm at least 3-feet from the door opening. :icon_thumby:

Now you know where to cut it loose to collect the insurance! Delete this, our secret!

Catch that last one:

In NH we have to go down 4' to get below frost but I'd hate to give up all the space if I didn't need a basement. My water softener and radon bubbler, furnace, water heater, and electrical panel all live there and access to them is easy. So you guys take up living space with all that stuff on top of giving up storage space? How big are houses in your area? Mine would be considered on the small side at 1232 sq ft but we can use it all and the basement effectively adds another 1232.
22-2300 is small as l like...one of my houses was 4500. And I had enough furniture to fill it. The two I lived in longest were 3300 plus. But I have lived in trailers and busses too. And my ranger.

Insurance Fraud. Probably not something the forum would want to promote.
So you're saying I shouldn't loosen that back up and light a match? Seems like an easy way to make the hole in the side of the building bigger to drive through.

I usually check it with a lighter or torch ...after running a fan

The fan keeps blowing out my matches.

Propane torch?

Turn the fan off.

Step lively

Today's frequent reminder that this house was previously remodeled by a dumbass.

Installed a box, ran the wire in to it, and plugged the wire hole with a piece of the drywall I cut out and some construction adhesive. Touched up the wall with some compound and then painted it before mounting the new light fixture.
