If this is your work vehicle, and your livelihood depends on it, I would not mess around. If possible, scrap it and get something as reliable, useful, and cheap as possible (in that order) with a warranty. Maybe even get a crappy but bulletproof junker as a backup vehicle. Save the engine swaps for fun project time, if that's what you want to spend your spare time doing.
