What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

It was used to pick up my better half's new CVT today haha. Traded the Mule off today for something a little more fun. View attachment 59563

Look into cvt mods for that. My yamaha was suuuuuper easy to mod, yours should be close to the same.

I put tires on my quad that were 3" taller, essentially increasing the drive ratio 12%. It was definitely noticeable in the power department.. I was able to put 1.5mm of shim in my primary clutch to reduce it back to factory. I also put a stiffer secondary spring in to keep it in a little higher rev range to kinda combat the extra 60ish pounds of rotating weight.

Total cost was.. 30$. Absolutely the best bang for the buck mod someone can do to a wheeler/sxs.

Thanks. You must could tell that I have already been researching 31 inch tires for it. You scanning my google history haha. It's got a KTM engine in it. so parts should be available. Where did you get the shim kit?

Haha nice what are you looking at for tires?

I bought my shims off ebay. In my case I just searched "yamaha kodiak shim kit"

FYI:
Badlands Offroad Park doesn’t allow ATVs to go everywhere the trucks can go, but they do allow SxSs to...

Nice.

If I was running dunes a lot, I’d have a YXZ1000r with a GYTR turbo.

It's just an 800 cc but that's way better than the 500 Kawasaki mule we had before. Plus the adjustable shocks will be nice off road too

That’s ok. My Wolverine is only a 708cc. That doesn’t matter on the trails, it only makes a difference when you get out on the flats.

How fast do you need to go!? My 500 Polaris ranger will do almost 60! Where you riding the damn thing?! At full speed in mine even on flat hardpack sand it's scary. Only time I wish I had more engine is crawling over stumps in the swamp. Speed is never an issue.

The YXZ1000r and the Can Am X3 turbo are both limited to 80 from the factory... they can do over 100 with a simple tune.

I don't even do that in my Ranger.

Again... why!?!?!?! What practical use is there for that?

It's kinda like having a 6.5 creedmor to punch holes in paper?
