COLD!

I know a meth head when I see one...

He knew him when he was just Baby Stone

OMG, how does a 2-year old get out of a house in the middle of the night?!

Tragic.

It's 18 degrees here in Texas, and we're suppose to get a snow storm / blizzard tomorrow.

If you didn't hear, there was a 133 car pile up on IS-35 in Fort Worth. At least 5 or 6 people died. I saw videos witnesses took as it was happening. It's pretty horrifying.

Somehow, I managed to do it quite a few times when I was that age. My parents never did figure out how I did it. I think they ended up putting some sort of latch at the very top of the door to keep me from doing it. Heck, my sister managed to climb up on top of a stand up freezer that was about 7 feet tall. Kids are amazing on what they can figure out and they have no concept of danger or death.

Infant pebble, baby stone, kid rock, adult mountain

Geriatric asteroid?

That would work (y)

I have been trying to reverse engineer how to do it to prevent it from happening. I had never even thought about it before.

I wonder if they had a door knob that had a lever? I don't know any two year olds but our 15mo does try to work our round door knob. And like our house has a 10" step once you get outside so just because you can reach it from the inside doesn't mean you can reach it to get back in.

I sleep-walked as a kid, my parents finally put some latches up high at the top of the doors where I couldn't reach them. Outgrew it, eventually.

@85_Ranger4x4 I can't imagine what that family is going through... for your own family's sanity, I would get a battery powered door chime that has a sensor and it goes off when the door is opened. you can put that on the outside of the little guy's bedroom so he doesn't even get a chance to go outside before you hear it, and being nearby your bedroom you would be more likely to be woken up from it. they are less than 20 bucks, and well worth the added relief that they give you to know what your kiddo is doing. get the door knob slip collars that for a person with tiny hands will not be able to turn the knob, but grown ups can pinch in the right areas because their hands are bigger to open the door.

Kids are a lot more smarter than you can imagine, and until they get old enough to understand what they are doing can hurt them, they can really drive you as parents up a wall crazy trying to second guess what mischief they are going to get into.

As you know our youngest has Aspberger's (high functioning Autism) and due to "eloping" (running off when upset) being a common issue with kiddos on the Autism Spectrum, we found that the door knob slip collars were great on keeping them contained to the inside of the house or even a specific room. but our son quickly outgrew and figured out that principle, but it did get us to the point of teaching him the dangers of just running off outside before we stopped using them.

The biggest scare that we ever worried about was what if he ate something that he shouldn't and didnt' tell us? like got into the ibuprofen bottle that my wife leaves out and half the time without a damn lid on the bottle... and one scare where she had a bottle of benedryl without the cap on tight and he found the bottle and was playing with it... so in we walked and see that the cap is off and llttle pink pills alll over the floor... talk about scare teh crap out of you... quick trip to the ER and it was determined that he did not ingest any... must have just liked the rattle sound. (he was about a year and a half old.

So far he is still in his crib beside our bed and so far us content in there so it is easy peesy. To get out of the room he would be tripping on at least one dog. But he is always pushing boundries/trying to do more...

The dinger is a good idea, I got one for Christmas a few years ago and never did anything with it.

Was getting weather alerts on my phone yesterday, basically saying ITS COLD!!!! Which should not be too hard to figure out by walking out the door, but I guess some people here have no sense whatsoever .......

24 degrees when I got up according to my phone. Water in the chicken coop had a skin of ice on it but not frozen solid, much to my surprise. Chickens not frozen solid either .... ;)

It's was -6 here this morning... wind chills at -23.

They say it might get a bit colder tomorrow...

Yeah. 24 degrees here (and dropping) means most of you guys are REALLY freezing your nutz off.....

GF said when she lived in Nebraska, they didn't cancel school till it got to negative double digits, because some kids had to walk!
