Coleman Liquid Fuel

I had to drive to Illinois to get it and the owner drove a really hard bargain... but I picked this up over the weekend:

Pump builds pressure, I think it will go again. If not it will help others live.

Thanks @Uncle Gump!

Anytime... you seen that I have no shortage of collectable stuff that makes me smile... and a couple other Coleman projects. It was almost liberating to see you carry it out of the basement. Remember that I have that MM oil pressure gauge if you ever find anyone that needs one.

Minnie Moes were never very popular around me, I don't think we have even had one in the shop aside from dads for 10 years.

The dealer must not have lasted long around here or something.

Welp, oiled up the piston in the lantern to see if the found would hold real pressure and that came up a negative.

Pinhole where the rust is lighter colored:

Burner cage is rusty (which is like half the lantern on a K), valve seems to work ok as far as I can tell without having any fuel in it, replacement globe and the vent should clean up pretty good though.

I had a bad feeling when I started picking off loose paint and smelled fuel...

Return it and get your money back.

That reminds me of some song lyrics... nothing from nothing leaves nothing

Bummer man.

But think of all the fun you had toting it back across several states. Crowded state parks to see, a round barn, a wrecked airplane, dirt roads in the forest....

*while hauling a very small house.

Kind of having a hard time calling it dead, it might just sit on the shelf for awhile.

Parts are parts... might come in handy one day.

Initial impressions are everything is good except for the fount... which we kinda talked about before I even took it.

Garage sale finds for the weekend:

1999 295 Dual Fuel. Looks like it will clean up nice, adjustable brightness will be nice to have while camping. Looks brand new.

I got these two as a package deal, the water jug and I finally found a two burner griddle which fits my 413 perfect:

Must resist garage sales...

Good finds!

We camped at Center Lake this weekend and my kid figured out how to catch crawdads. I waded around for about an hour and caught about 20. They are stupid easy to catch if you can find them - he figured out that you can use a little blue squid lure on a hook and they will snap onto it and you can pull them right out of the water.

Anyway I took em back and boiled em. Not much meat but it was fun. My step daughter ate like half of them. Used my $1 beater stove all weekend, didn't miss a beat. May have to replace the pump rubber with a leather... doesn't feel right but it does pump up. Leathers just work better.
