dislodged (broken) Coolant fitting on Intake Manifold,

I have a 1999 Ranger withe a Coolant fitting that separated from the intake Manifold. One of the two coolant fittings pulled rite out of the Upper Intake Manifold. Apparently the coolant fittings on the manifold are pressed and glued in. Poor Design if you ask me.

My Question? Does anyone have a permanent fix for this problem? I'm thinking that I could drill and tap the hole to except a small pipe fitting.
Any help with this problem will be a great help.

That would be my next step. Tap the hole, go to home dept (or a hardware store near you) and get a brass fitting that matches the size and threads of whatever tap you used, Teflon tape and tighten her down. Common practice for the Chevy engines with the water outlet in the back of the manifold to the heater core.
 
I thought that would be the best way to go. I'll do both fittings. While drilling
I'll blow air into the other hole as to force the drill shavings up and out of the manifold from where I'm drilling.

You could always just bypass the coolant so it doesn't feed the intake. I'm not too familiar with the rangers, but on my Nissan's and rotary engines, I bypass coolant so it doesn't flow through the intake manifold. Keeps the manifold cooler making your intake air cooler.

I haven't touched one of those things in years. I'm more into the KA series. Message me and I'll see if I can help you and refresh my memory.
 
You should be able to tap that and put a npt and push lock fitting in there use plumber's dope also.
 
It looks to me like the steel tube rusted off in there, and some putz tried to glue what was left of it in with blue RTV. That doesn't change your repair idea, but it explains why it came out.

Best to coat the drill bit with grease so shavings will stick to it - clean often then apply new grease until through. Better also to vacuum out shavings. Same with NPT tap.
