My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Quite by accident I've aquired an 03 or 04 9-3t auto with 160k. Needs rear brakes, alternator, and battery. Stole it for 300 bucks. Cleanest 16 year old car I've ever seen up here in the rust belt.

Trying to decide weather to go "stage 3" with it and drive it for a couple summers or just fix it and sell it for what should be a hefty profit.

Anyone have any experience with these?

I know it's got a GM lower end (from turbo cobalt) with a saab head, and a jap transmission. Seems fine there. Just worried about the rest of its potential meatball eating Swedish quirks and how they'll affect the amount of joy Ill have trying to deal with the thing.

Saab used to build Jets. That is all I know about Saab's.

SELL IT BEFORE IT COSTS MORE THAN ITS WORTH... I had a friend who had one and he loved it until the head gaskets went bad.... He couldn't get rid of it for $500 and it was less than 8 years old at the time..... Its like a Cadillac, great when they run but when they break you better have deep pockets.

The caps lock delivers your message loud and clear lol, thanks for the reply.

Notice how nobody will claim a gm built saab. Or any saab

SAAB once built cars with a Ford V4 up front, which was also the origin of the Cologne V6. I keep trying to get @PetroleumJunkie412 to put one in his Ranger, but this brings up an interesting alternative: Find an old SAAB and put a 2.9 in it!

Anyway, there's the link between SAABs and Rangers, tenuous as it may be...

Sounds like a Saab story to me.

I've never owned one... but I remember the day at GM when we were told to halt all work on Saab programs. I had some responsibility on the 9-7x.

Back 15 years ago they used to put an LS2 in their 9-7x Aero. Basically and AWD Chevy Trailblazer SS.

Have I mentioned that GM is dead to me...

I mean, who could like a company who's 200k mile junkyard motors are capable of making near 1200 more hp than factory on a stock bottom end ?

No but really, I'm not a huge fan of GM.. But god damn the Ls is just an absolute masterpiece of a motor.

After the screwing over wife and I got from GM when they went under, we will never, ever own a GM product. All they did to acknowledge the people who carried them for years was to flush them down a toilet.
I will buy a used Yugo before I would buy a GM product.

I've never cared for GM products, but my daughter's Sonic RS Turbo is a very nice car and has been flawless so far. I keep waiting for something GM-like to happen to it.

I lost faith in Government Motor products years ago. The bailout just sealed the deal. The same with Congressional Motor Corporation before they became an foreign auto maker.

GM==General Mess
GMC==Generally Messy Crap
