Part of the planned mods for my 99 are bucket seats and a full length center console. To that end I pulled the console out of a sport trac the other week, probably an 01-03 model, same shape and mounting as the common regular Explorer swap piece.

Anyhow I was wondering what y'all do about the HVAC pieces in the console?

My console does not have the data center and I will not be using the back seat hvac or controls, so I don't see any reason to reinstall that duct work or wiring. I'm curious what y'all do with those pieces, the control unit, and vents on the back.

Easy enough to leave the ducts out. I'm thinking about fabing a blockoff plate to mount in place of the rear HVAC controls, maybe with some USB charging ports. The idea popped into my head to possibly hide a power inverter in the console and have a couple of 120V outlets mounted in said blockoff plate for charging laptop and similar items while driving.

Not really sure if anything could be done about the vents and still look decent.

Again, justr curious what y'all have come up with for that area of the console.
