If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
As the title suggests I want to be sure there isn't a hidden gasket somewhere that I am missing and need to order to do the valve cover replacements.

So far I have in the cart: Valve cover gaskets, Valve cover grommets and the upper intake gasket (plenum gasket).

Is there one hidden somewhere that I am missing before I put the order in? Currently collecting parts for spring fixes and the last thing I want is to tear into it and not have the gaskets and not be able to put it together the same day.

What is up with the grommets? Most other gaskets I have seen have these molded into the bolt hole for the gasket. Are these meant to go between the bolt and the valve cover?

Anybody? I'm still waiting to be sure before putting the order in.

Not sure, but IF they are cheap, get them. I don't remember having grommets on my '01, but its been a while since I've done motor work on mine. A Chilton/Haynes Manual will tell you where the grommets should go. or maybe someone here will chime in soon.

I'm pretty sure they go between the bolt head and the valve cover since the covers appear to look, and when tapped on, to be plastic. This would help prevent over tighening causing cracks but never pulled a 3.0 apart before so I would just like to be sure before tearing in to it.

Yep, you got it! Really shouldn't need anything else.

Grommets seal the captive attaching hardware.
I'd get them.

Order placed and thank you all for the answers you provided. I just need warmer weather to start tackling the spring projects I have planned.
