Original Ford Brochures -> Many Many Years

I have all of the brochures through '95, but no way to scan them. If these early ones are wanted for the tech library, we can figure something out.

Someplace like Staples (or is it Quill in the USA?), or a local print shop should be able to scan them for you. It won't be free, though.

If the brochure's individual pages are 8.5 x 11 or smaller and you don't have an issue with possibly having to remove staples, if you send them here I can scan them in on my home scanner. probably can scan without removing the staples, but the scan quality might suffer a bit.

I actually had given Jim high-quality scans of all the sales brochures I have from 1992-2000 (minus 1998) many years ago, and then again early last year when I was helping to sort out some errors on the History of the Ranger page.

Indeed there is a lot of good info available in brochures that I've been wanting to post links to.

I'll get those brochures added to the site.

@4x4junkie I remember us updating the history page. You sent me a scan of the window sticker from your Ranger in a private message. You asked me about the scans you had sent me in the past, but I didn't have them, and don't know what happened to them. I don't recall you sending me anything other than the scan of your window sticker, and all of our discussions were by private message, not email (that I recall). I don't think you sent me any scans of the brochures this time around.

There is also a web site, Ford Auto Brochures.com where you can pull up a pdf and print one if you have a printer.
Same site has brochures for many other Ford models, some going back as far as 1966. All the Explorers, Mustangs, many Broncos, pretty much all the Ford badged models.

I have a stack of brochures for 2010 fords and subarus of all sorts. When I bought my truck there was a pile of them in the cab. Aparently they were using the truck as a filing cabinet since no one wanted to buy it. :dunno:

@Jim Oaks Jim, if you are looking to put the sales brochures on the site, let me know what you don't have, 1983 through 1994. I have the complete set of sales brochures for Ranger, Bronco II and Explorer. I "think" that I can get my old ("ancient") printer/scanner to work with my current PC, as a scanner but not a printer.

Sorry for my asking, but are we OK with Ford, if TRS as an enthusiast website, makes this kind of material available? The sales brochures are great reference material, especially with the early generation trucks coming up on being 40 years old.

@97RangerXLT - Thank you for the offer. Depending on where Jim wants to go with this, and what I'm able do with my equipment, I'm not opposed to sending material to someone to be scanned.

I personally think that adding this kind of material would make a great website even mo' bettah!

These brochures are made for the public, and a lot of them are already available online through other websites, so I don't think Ford will care if we collect all of them here.

I believe I had sent it to the FTP folder we had set up on the server because it was much too big to email.
I think I might still have the file...

Edit:
I just tried my FTP program using the last-used login credentials, and it appears to still be sitting there in a folder "\images". Are you able to find it on your end?

If you have a decent digital camera you can also take snapshots and transfer to the computer, works basically same as a scanner
It can be tedious though if you're doing many, and you'll likely need to rotate/crop them for fit

If you want higher resolution/split into individual pages let me know.

Working on the '83 brochure - pages are 12" wide, so my scanner isn't able to scan complete page. Which means I need to scan each page 2X and merge/cleanup.

I added the brochures we have, and a couple I made from the scans @4x4junkie sent me here:

@RobbieD we're still missing some on the page:
  • 2007
  • 2005
  • 2004
  • 2002
  • 1991
  • 1990
  • 1989
  • 1988
  • 1987
  • 1986
  • 1985
  • 1984
  • 1983
If you could contribute to any of that it would be greatly appreciated.

@Jim Oaks Jim, I've sent you a PM, and I have sent one of the 1983 brochures, that I was able to scan, by the "Submit" page. Hopefully it makes it through; I sent a zipped folder of 22 pages.

@don4331 Which 1983 brochure are you working on? I have two different examples of the 1983 sales brochures, one dated 1/82 and the other dated 8/82 (look for the date on the back page). Both of these are 9 1/16" wide by 10 7/8" tall. The second one (8/82) adds the diesel as a new option, but the V6 (2.8L) engine is not listed. I don't have a '83 brochure that's 12" wide (1984 and up they're 11" by 11").

It would be awesome to get a complete collection of these brochures on the TRS website, so that they're publicly archived in one collection, and available to enthusiasts.

Does anybody know when (what date) the V6 engine option was first available? It is listed as a Ranger engine the 1983 Light Trucks Specifications Book, Supplement (Aug 83), but not the original version 1983 spec book (Feb 83).
