I’m far from the first to have done this, but...
My odometer rolled 238,900 tonight, which as I understand it is the moon’s average distance from Earth.
It’s an ‘02 Ranger XLT with the 3.slow and 5R44E. It has served me well, and will continue to do so for a long time. Barring theft or a major accident, it will have a 5.0, M5OD, and 8.8 in the next year or so. I have all the major parts ready but am lacking for time.
Everything still works as it should. I have not had so much as a CEL in over 30,000 miles.
Now for the obligatory pics (don’t laugh, I’m not a car photographer)

For whatever reason, my exterior picture won’t upload here. You can see it on my thread at BITOG: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/foru...9/my-truck-has-driven-to-the-moon#Post5179959

my '05 hit 358,000 last weekend. I'm halfway back. it must know that. it's slowing down, presumably for re-entry.

I posted something like this about how we (Ranger owners) need to get ahold of NASA due to our trucks putting on more miles than the space shuttles.

Some jerk made a joke about a 2.9 finally being in a low enough temp environment to not crack a head.

I hate it here.

Congrats on the mileage, though! 280,000 here. Running way better now vs when I bought it at 257,000.

At my driving rate it would take me about 12 years to get to 238,900 miles on my truck (only at 123,000 now) if I drive it everyday like I currently am. So mine would be just past the half way mark to the moon.... Is there a gas station up here? My 3.slow with the auto trans drinks fuel like a 7.3.

Just passed the Kuiper Belt, on the left.

If you see the Oort Cloud, or a whole lotta Ford Cortinas, you've gone too far.

I don't know about the gas stations out there, I'd just fill up a bunch of 5 gal cans before I left ;) I get about 19 around town and 22.5 highway.
I'd be well past 300k at this point, probably closer to 400k, if it had always been my daily driver. I've shuffled vehicles around so much, for most of this truck's life I only drove it on weekends.

It's been a long time since I've even heard a Ford Cortina mentioned...

Honestly, I'd happily trade one of my hemis for the right one. Especially one of the first gen Lotus Cortinas.

If I had a nice Cortina or knew where a clean one was, I'd be on my way to PA right now.
But no such luck.

Only one I've seen recently was an estate wagon in Detroit for $3400. Gutted out rats nest of a project car. Haven't been looking that hard, though.

There's this as well. Four door, though.
