Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
I found a Courier for sale, says " Negotiable " I don't NEEd it, but I would like to get it, if it is worth it. My question is what motor is in it and what can I use to upgrade it? ( Escspe, Fiesta, Mustang II,ect. ) also says it's been sitting for a few years, looks like 20. They also have a 76 tbird and 95 s-10/Blazer. (Don't want the balzer) But was thinking I could use the T BIrd for parts for my ranger v8 swap, which is stalled to the point of disgust.
Hopingt this will give me something to do until I score a mint exploder to disassemble.

all input is welcom:icon_thumby:

Don't know, they have not responded. I will try to post a pic.

This is the only pic provided. Any clues?

I found a mid 70's Courier with a built 289/C-4 years ago and bought it. Was lots of fun, nobody had any idea what was in it.

Any clues?

73 to 76. Going by the front bumper. 72s did not have the vertical pieces ando 77s headlights are different. According to Google Image search.

Probably a Lima 4-cyl came in it. As for what you can use to upgrade it, pretty much anything you want.

The Lima 2.3 came in '77 from what I can find. Unfortunate, since that simplifies some of the swap options.

It basically evolved to the Mazda B. Any available parts from the Mazda side of things??

It didn't evolve to the Mazda B. That already existed. Ford bought a modified version of the B series from Toyo Kogyo/Mazda and sold it as the Courier.

That 76 Tbird will be a bad choice for parts. More likely then not it has a 460. The 302/351W didnt become an option till 77.

That courier prolly has a 1.8/2.0L thats apart of god knows which engine family

According to Wikipedia, the Courier is a captive import. Essentially, it's a rebadged Mazda B-Series. Wikipedia doesn't say, but I would suspect that the engine and transmission are Mazda. Ford did install their own grill and headlights, and badging on the tailgate, but that's about it.

So, anything that would fit the Mazda B-series from that era will fit the Courier.

Thanks rusty, :icon_thumby:
Sounds like I'll just stay away from that T Bird. The Courier really interests me for some reason. They haven't responded to me at all tho.

Couriers are interesting little trucks. I almost bought a 78 model a year or so ago. It was a florida truck with no rust and like 52,000 miles. Some kid inherited from his grandpa. Really a nice little truck as far as couriers went. But it was really to nice to be a DD/work truck so i decided against it. Plus i questioned its ability to pull/haul what i needed it to. (Basically things i didnt need my F250 for).

Which is why i got another ranger. Even if it is in not as good of shape lol.
