Hello everyone, the airbag light is flashing code 24, I haven't found much information about it, what does it mean?. I need to have it fixed since soon i will have to take the truck to inspection, and a airbag light on is a fault that makes it fail the inspection. The truck is a 1995 Ford Ranger XL 2.3l.

Cheers.

This site has info that may apply, but check vintage to match your system:

They have other pages for other vintages. It seems it is either one of the sensors on the radiator support or the 'control module' itself. I do NOT know.

Here is a youtube on checking airbag codes:

Thanks for the answer. Do you know where is the module and sensor located exactly?, I can't see anything near the radiator aside from a small black box with 2 relays inside, and found a blue box with a pigtail connector attached next to the inertia switch, are those the module an sensor?.

Crash sensor is probably on the front side of the core support, between the support and the grill.

Module will be under the center console or cup holder if there is one. A little farther up towards the dash if there isn't, but should still be on the trans tunnel somewhere. They need to be mounted flat and level.

In my 96 they were on the passenger side behind the kick panel along with the intertia switch...and the sensors (there were two in 96) were like Adsm08 mentioned on the front core support on either side of the rad.

The sensor on the driver side was badly corroded and probably not working but I never installed it when I swapped everything over...

I had visions of the driver side air bag going off by my bumbling around so I was very cautious handling anything in that system...watching kids launch themselves on YouTube sitting on top of the modules looked pretty scary...

Is this blue box the module?

Yes, that's the air bag module...the one beside it is your inertia switch...remember that one because it will shut down your fuel pumps if it gets bumped like in an accident...

For now that's just a "nice to know" item...but they can also burn out and cause no starts by interrupting the fuel pump circuit...

Or you can have some richardcranium sitting next to you who knows it's there and kicks it on purpose while you are driving.

Not gonna name names RangerKip.

:icon_rofl:

Yes, that is quite possible...

Looks like it...there was only one or two things on that side of the core support...if its on the outside towards the bumper then it likely is the sensor...
