I've had several turboed DSM's as well (3 in a row), my ABSOLUTE favorite being a 97 Eagle Talon TSI, running 12.8ish's (high 12's) on the stock turbo!
I would like to get a GARRETT GT2871R for this thing... But the only problem is that its a BALL BEARING turbo and theyre expensive AS SHIT!
THAT SAID, a buddy of mine is running that "Hybrid Godspeed GT2871R" on his Jetta 1.8T with stage 2 EVERYTHING, at 300+hp. Its a great turbo, known as the "Disco Potato"....
How do you think that would run on a 2.3L Turbo Coupe Engine????

Just a little update on the motor and a few pics, not much has changed, other than some of the wiring harness stuff. I got a new "TIP" (turbo inlet pipe) today and I think it should work PERFECTLY ww/ my big VAM! Its just a 3" (both ends) ducting type tube made by "Spectra". Its solid as a rock. its flexible and extendable up to 28"! We shall see how she works!
★I'm now just looking for a RIGHTLY PRICED LA3 PCM! I'm also going to grab my $400, NICE, little, Red '97 XL Ranger tomorrow!!! Yes, she's an auto, but she'll be lightly turboed as well one day (this is nothin but a work truck and DD!) Nonetheless, it'd still be nice to have the "power" when needed and the added fuel economy when just cruising! I would REALLY REALLY like to find a diesel turbo motor for it but they seem nearly IMPOSSIBLE to come by for the Rangers.... Either way, ALL good! That extra ranger gives me my interior to match the mustang seats, a few parts i need for the turbo truck AND an ENTIRE spare 8 plug motor in case anything were to happen to the Auto DD!★

ONTO THE DAMN PICS, ENOUGH RAMBLING ABOUT MY PLANS! LOL!
I WILL UPDATE BACK WHEN THE NEW TRUCK IS IN MY POSSESSION AND/OR SOME MORE ACTIVITY HAPPENS ON THE CURRENT TRUCK OR MOTOR! REMEMBER, STILL GOTTA GET AN ALTERNATOR AND A NEW SERPENTINE BELT, PLUS FIT ALL OF THAT AS WELL...
I'll keep my "subs" posted! AND PLEASE, SUBSCRIBE TO THE BUILD - IT SHOULD BE a GREAT ONE!!!

as for teh ranger diesels being hard to find, their is a couple in my area on Craigslist - always wanted to grab them cuz theyre rare to everyone else haha. theyve been trying to sell em for almost a year. see them pop up quiet often - some turbo'd some just NA

Wheres "your area" and do they "crate them" or local pickup only? What's the prices looking like for a turbo Diesel?

BC canada. nah they are just everyday people selling them not retailers so local pick up only. No Turbo diesels (just looked) was a couple few months back, even the whole truck for 2 grand. their is to, NA 2.3s.. well they dont say if theyre turboed or NA just assuming for 200$

So i talked to a guy who is selling 2. old ranger turbo diesels, 200$ each. no turbos though. if you really want one ill see what i can do to help

Even though I'm not sure how to get an ENTIRE truck here, from Canada, AT THAT! I'm all the way in Virginia...
... You can contact them if u like, see if he'll crate a motor to me!
I'm going to check my Craigslist too.... See if I "just so happen" to run across one!

haha yeah - but i live in an apartment so its not that easy to have a motor sitting around.
well its just the engine for 200, i wonder how much it would be to crate it.
