Winter storm Nikko....

Nothin but a little rain down here by Graceland...y'all keep the south gate closed.

My brother that lives outside Atlanta said they had brand new plows but nobody knew how to drive them. But the reason why the government gets bent out of shape is this. You look at TV and what do you see. The little kid saying she wants to see her mommy. The school board doesn't want that getting out on TV. In that storm in Atlanta where was the safest place for those kids. In school or out on the roads. In school or at home. You do realize that at school they have heat and food. Running water. Bathrooms very important. Usually a backup generator to run at least some lights and the heating system. But what do they put on TV. The little girl crying that she wants to be at home.

No the safest place for those kids was at home, they should have canceled school if they knew they didn't have the infrastructure to run the buses safely. Obviously they didn't since there were kids trapped on busses that got caught in traffic.

Driving a plow isn't that hard, you put the thing on the ground and start off on the busiest streets and work your way down to residential. They could have put a call out, we just now got our first real snow and I bet the local private snow pushers are getting hungery.

Like right now the school where I live has already declared a 2hr late start because it is frickin cold (-2 at the moment) They didn't wait until tomorrow at noon to figure out what to do.

2" of snow is nothing, they won't lose power, they won't starve, water will still run... life will go on pretty much the same as it always had. Get a movie, some blankets, some popcorn and enjoy it.

From what I have read the plows were out of position and state owned. Around here state owned rigs will only touch state highways, country rigs run on country roads (paved and gravel) and city owned takes care of city streets. None of them can legally run with the blade down out of their jurisdiction.

The problem with Texas when it snows is that no one knows how to drive in it, we already got 3 inches the other day, were supposed to get an inch tomorrow but I doubt it. Its gonna be -7, and I don't have the warmest jacket. :dunno:
I am impressed with my grabbers though, they've been handling well in the snow.
