Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

Yeah. I was upset over the first dent and now don't care as long as I can still drive it home.

:icon_thumby: Same here. If you can't crawl up/through it, hammer down!

When i rolled mine i was gonna do cab swap but ran out of tike where i was doing jt and ended up having to scrap both my ranger and the donor in hind sight i should have chopped the roof off halfway up the pillars tossed a cage in then cut a second ranger in the same place and weld a good roof on

That's a good idea!

Thats actually a really good idea.

This week gonna talk to me autobody friend who my family has known for 30+ years and see if he thinks I can push that roof out enough to get a windshield in.

If I can i'll go buy a Harbour Frieght hydraulic ram kit and push it out, put in a new windshield, get another door/mirror and drive it like I stole it!!!!

Still researching where I can get just a cab...then I could potentiall just cut out the shitty parts and weld in another roof....then Monstaliner it like all the rocker panels :headbang:

Here's to the Mazda's future :beer::beer::beer: :icon_welder:

Too bad you're in Ca. dude. I have a perfect 97 cab sitting in my backyard...

Damn seriously. Hopefully I find someone here with one in their backyard!

Why not get a ranger, do all your TTB stuff on it for a DD/Expo rig... then SAS the mazda for a dedicated trail rig!

yeah thats a possibility....but if I'm gonna do that I'd rather just buy something (anything) cheap that way I can sell off all my TTB to fund the SAS and repair of the Mazda

thats to bad but like they all said, WHEELER!! how did you flip it?

Haha yeah! All my friends were at a bonfire and they all own toyota prerunners (well ones a fullsize chevy) and were taking turns doing brodies/drift sessions in my friends yard. Think massive like 300' diameter drifts.

Well comes my turn and they had all gone before me so I wanted to show em up you know but my trucks tall and I lost momentum around my largest slide out and the back right tire caught an existing rut and went up on two wheels, then slowly rolled onto its side, then slid about 8' on that side before finally rolling onto the roof, then nosing down on the hood/bumper.

So i crawled out the passenger window covered in glass and brushed myself while everyone was silent for like 3 min.....then I was like alright, lets take a picture this shit is insane :headbang: so we all stood on top of the leaky bitch (my new name for her since everyone had a hard time not sliding off the undercarriage since she leaks tranny fluid and PS fluid constantly) and I set the mood to a light one. After a few beers I was pretty chill with it but it still sucks....

Shouldn't treat my Valentines so rough but I guess you live and learn. Sometimes we hurt the ones closest to us you know :icon_confused:

drive down there, get this cab, make a deal so he drops the price on the 8.8, sell me the 8.8.

Excellent plan except Lompoc is hella far and diesel is soo expensive!

BUT on that note I found a 97 cab here in town at one of the junkyards for $250 and still has the dash intact...supposedly it is in great shape gonna go see it tomorrow, if it is what they say it is ill have them pull it and can go pick it up next week....they even have straight doors for it which I may pick up to....just need a headliner and ill swap everything from the Mazda interior over too...

I have a deadline :icon_surprised: friends are all going camping/wheeling 1-3 of March and I either got to get a cab on it or push the current roof up enough to get my tall self in there! I'll tow it up either way behind my dads cummins...just need it drivable so might kick the windshield out and high-lift-jack the roof up or yank on it with the forks on the JD backhoe! If I don't get the new cab on it will be a bash fest that's for sure!

Anybody know if a 2001+ year super cab will fit on my 1996 frame? I want the suicide doors!

you've got a welder and grinder don't ya?!
