mazda to ford trans swap?

I just purchased a 98 splash 2.5 for 500 bucks. reverse is slow to engage..took valve body off replaced separator gasket, new fluid, new d o rings on reverse servo to try to get it to work and no luck..I have a chance to get a 45k mile trans from a 98 b3000 3.0 for around 300. any mods to this trans for it to work in the splash? thanks for the feedback. it is appreciated.

The 3.0 trans will not fit onto the 2.5. They are different bolt patterns and so far adapter plates don't really exist. The 2.5 might be the Duratech engine, where the 3.0 is the Vulcan. There is sadly little aftermarket support and interchangeability with the 3.0 to anything else.

ok, the '98 is a good ol lima 2.3 base, and he is working with auto trannies it sounds like, if these were manual trannies, you would be correct, completely different transmission cases (internals would swap over though)

the auto trannies could have a removable bellhousing so the tranny would bolt right on, but I have no experience with them at all...
