Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

I dont know how I missed this build. Truck's looking amazing. Keep up the great work.

'Scribed.

Will it take a hard roll? Not flop, roll...

The cage strength is in the design, not necessarily material strength.

DOM will most likely be ASTM A513 Type 5

80ksi Tensile, 70ksi Yield

http://www.amcastle.com/pdfs/carbonandalloytubing.pdf

ASTM 500 Grade B falls a bit short, but will work if built properly:

58ksi Tensile, 45.7ksi Yield

http://www.eaglesteel.com/download/techdocs/ASTM_A500_Grade_B.pdf

I used ASTM 500 Grade B for the rectangle portion of my sliders. Reference my build thread if you want to see the analysis work that shows how design affects structural strength.

Ahh. What about HREW Bray?

Done for now. Still have to figure out a spare tire mount and do a little more tube work on the upper portion of the bed area and tie into the frame a little more.

Let's go wheelin'

Looks good brother. Throw the skins on and tear it up!

Thanks fellers!

Hope to get some fresh new wheeling pics this weekend

looks too pretty to wheel. You going to run rear bed skins?

Lol, thanks.

I'm gonna do bed sides. Just gotta decide on a clean mount. Any ideas?

Aluminum angle for structure to the skins and tube clamps with wing nuts to the bed?

Tube clamps and wing nuts? You mean like exhaust tube clamps?

mount the bed side like they did the sheet metal on Extreme 4X4 with the blog buggy, use those funny looking taps that are welded to the tube, then bolt them on, that way you can remove them easily when they get messed up.

Also I agree with -Nathen-, it's too pretty to wheel, be bad to make look that good, then get it all messed up on the side of a tree, or rock.

posted with a side order of bacon.

There ya go! How was the body roll, is it very top heavy now?

Tube clamps and wing nuts? You mean like exhaust tube clamps?

Yup, that'd be a cheap version of the machined ones we use for handrailings on equipment at work here.
