why hate on the a4ld?

The only problem I have with mine is when it is cold out, doesn't want to shift into OD.

The A4LD in the Explorer I pulled my donor motor from ran great. 147k on it. I would have kept it, but I'm just not an auto type of guy. Sold it to recoup some on the purchase of the Explorer.

213k, just the aforementioned OD issue. If I blip the throttle a bit, it will drop in.

:icon_rofl: yeah yeah, lol...
i just talked to a guy i know with an ex on 35's that he wheels, and he said he's never touched his a4ld other than fluid/filter change.. :icon_cheers:
I wheel mine and its got 208,000 on it. Original auto....

My 3rd Grade Essay on Why I Hate the A4LD:

By ADSM08

I hate the A4LD because it has a torque converter. The End.

The reliability issue is one thing, but the fact that it's an auto and autos never fawking shift how or when I want them too, is something completely different. The only autos I ever plan to own will be built with full manual reverse valve bodies.

:dunno:

A torque converter is my best friend.

yall crack me up sometimes.. anyways..

i'll be sticking to the a4ld, it will be rebuilt and back in my b2.

288,000 km on the clock.... blew the A4LD up at 260,000 km.
Personally, if it wasn't for my lack of common sense, (towing the father in laws 2500 dodge with a 35' trailer loaded with about 15 round bales) I'm quite sure the original transmission would still be going strong.
