1350 what size is the flange bolt?

1350 transfer case with the yoke style rear output flange(the one that a u-joint seats into). what size thin wall socket do i need order to fit this thing? the output flanges are swappable right?

i believe i used a 30mm regular socket and yes they are swappable between the big universal and the flat flange style but not sure about the different size universals the smaller one may have a smaller nut

Nope, all the Tcase yokes and flanges have the same 30mm nut size.

The 30mm socket that i have fits perfectly into every yoke and flange. I got it at Lowes. Its the Kobalt brand. Make sure you pull the label off first other wise it wont fit! (yes its that close but it fits with out any exessive force.)

You don't "find" a thin-wall 30mm socket. You make one.

you dont need too just go and get an every day 30 mm socket (got mine at napa) it will fit perfect. these are not made for an impact wrench and if you try to modify it it will break

There is no reason to weaken a good socket by grinding it down. Just go out and buy one. They are not hard to find. As long as it's not an impact socket it will generally work. The 30mm socket that came in my socket set worked fine.

To keep the case from moving, I jacked my truck partially (not too hard) up on top of the case with a piece of wood in between the case and jack. Then I threaded two bolts into the rear flange and put a bar between them so it would hit the floor and stop the case internals from turning. Finally I got a giant cheater bar and bounced up and down on the end.

I put the case in 4x4, a pipe wrench onthe front output, park my truck on the pipe wrench handle, put breaker bar on the 30mm socket and jump on the breaker bar.



An impact works too.

thanks guys, ended up saying screw it and took it to the shop $225 later new flange, 2 new ujoints, and new end on the drive shaft and rebalance. (btw the kid dropped the driveline doing about 20mph on a off ramp, he didn't know what all that vibration was/ he does now! Something to be said for learning by experience. Apparently I, as dad don't know shit! Now I understand when MY dad said payback is a bitch. Damn teenagers!!! But, who did he come crying to when he blew the head gaskets. Should of did what my old man did. threw me a chiltons and said fix it!!! Kids these days don't seem to have a clue about basic wrenching, even the schools around here killed auto shop.
