Don't worry, you got a doubler :icon_doubler:

I'm talking DD use. If it was trail only, I'd go bigger.

i think id rock them if you dont like them run your 35s then swap when its time to hit up the trails

Thats not a bad idea. Was going to try to sell them an catch a few sheckles for them, but it might be worth it for that.

Redrilled Explorer setup.

I did some research. Thought about running 97+ 8.8. They have discs, but they have a metric bolt pattern and require a minimum 16" rim. So I looked into the Explorer setup. The center hole on the rotor needs enlarged, or the hub on the shaft turned down. Then redrill the rotors and thats it, its bolt on from there and I can keep my 15" rims.

Where are you finding a 97+ full width 8.8?, I don't believe there is such a thing.

There are 2 at Glissons.

Wiki:

"Tenth generation (1997–2004)
Ford's own 8.8 IFS replaced the Dana 44 front end, while the Ford 8.8 rear remained. The Ford Sterling 9.75 axle was also optioned in heavy-duty versions. In 2000 the Sterling 10.25 axle became an option."

And from what I understand all Ford's lug patterns went metric after 97.

you do have the doubler.. you could make it work.

Full size fords after 97 went to a different axle it was no longer the standard 8.8. It's a 9.75 axle like wiki says that came standard.

I geared my buddies 97 f-150 and it had 8.8's front and rear.

I'm a dumbass..... The f150 body style change was 98.

Ahem, 98 and up full size trucks use a 9.75 axle :flipoff2:

Didn't realize it was only 97. Why would Ford change the lug pattern for one year?

Ok so I am going to build a truss for the 8.8 while its apart. I have some 3/16 1.5" square, and some 1/4 2" square tube to work with. I think I am going to use the 2" on the 8.8 and save the 1.5 for the 44.

Looks good. You may have some issues installing it, they can be tricky with gearsets lower than 410s...

This is basically what I am thinking for the truss. Simple, effective.
