HOckey Puck Lift Kit?...

anybody know anything about using hockey pucks for lift kits, and about how high of a lift you can do, i wouldnt go anything over 3 inches but im just guessing on that one.

Stacking hockey pucks is not a good idea. Just spend the money and buy one instead of using pucks. They can be found for $50 used.

Its been covered in several threads before, hockey pucks will deteriorate over time and either fall out or just get squishy.

I've had a hockey puck laying next to my back steps for roughly 8 years. Totally unprotected, and exposed. Not that I enjoy leaving crap laying around, it got set there one winter and never really bothered moving it. That puck was just as solid as it was before it was put there, albeit bleached. I pitched it (what was left) about 5 years ago due to it being mulched by my brother and the push mower. Still plenty hard.

However, it is better to have a single solid mass for a body mount. Doesn't slide around as much.

if i were to say bolt them together, make basically one peice out of them. im only trying to make the pucks work because i have alot of sport shops in my town andi could get alot of hockey pucks really cheap...

Wouldn't drilling and "bolting" them.....if that's even possible......take away what little structural integrity they may have?

There's still a seam. Slamming on the brakes creates a lot of force on things, they'll slide around. Of course you could epoxy them together I guess.

I'd rather spend a little more and just get a legit body lift, but I suppose if you were to get a piece of pipe that has the same inner diameter as the outer diameter of the puck, cut it to length, stack your pucks inside and drill a hole through the pucks.

I guess you could try drilling and sleeving them then put a bolt through them,of course people will tell you not to use them.I don't believe they get soft over time,unless you use sponge pucks. That being said I have no experience installing them on a vehicle but have been hit by them over the years and they're friggin hard.

I'd like to see you do this but you have to promise to keep a detailed record over time. Measure uninstalled height, then installed height. And remeasure every 6 months. Maybe uninstall one set every year and see if they are deteriorating. Then report back here. I like to see the facts, Watson. Not a bunch of regurgitation by lift salesmen. My last statement is not meant to anyone personally but is a generalization.

Just get a good spacer lift kit if you are going for a small lift. If you want more then get a lift kit (3-5 inches). You can check Ebay for your year of truck. Spacer kits are not real expensive and you get instructions with them in case you have never done this before. Just be safe doing it and if you can;t do it yourself or with a buddy go to a shop and have them do it for you. You might have to align that front end if you do lift it more then 2 inches. At least have the alignment checked to see if you do have to have it done after the install.

I did this on my brother's jeep, and it worked like a charm. Total was around $35 for all the pucks. plus another 15 for bolts/nuts/washers.

You can buy the spacers for like 5.99 each for 3" lift. Plus your hardware. The pucks would almost have to be given to me.
